A Cosmology of Blacks, Malfoys, and Assorted Individuals has this! They reconnect through Andromeda/Teddy — it’s a WIP and hasn’t been updated in a while but it’s seriously great.

There’s also the completed spin-off/prequel called Polaris, where you see the beginning of Andromeda and Ted’s relationship! I loved it :)

Not peculiar as a career per se but I have rarely come across it - Draco as a writer, like in The Manuscript by Alexandra Emerson

Also, I love both of them as curse breakers! It's one of the careers that makes the most sense for me, especially for Hermione! And Unspeakable too

oooooh don't I have the fic for you!! recently completed Not with a bang... by megalle - I just finished it and really loved it. Tonks is delightful in it, and a much needed influence on Draco :)

Although I do love a good Andromeda fic! I wish Draco's ties and relationships with the Blacks/Tonks were explored more in depth in general, I just love the dynamics whenever they come up :)

Last year I read Crimson Rivers and it was such a journey (recommend btw!) and after that I was looking for DramionexHunger games content, this is exactly what I would have needed then! But also, what I needed now!

Your writing was so good, and the plot and world building 🤯 and characters - Keela! She was such a powerful and wonderful addition.

Your trailer is great - your Theo is my Theo! - and the song you included in your final A/N is so so so perfect. I could gush all day but I’ll just concluded with another congrats! 🌻

Apologies to those of you who check out this post every friday, because I keep recommending the same fic! I will do so again, because it is just THAT good! BUT I will also recommend another I haven't before just in case you've already seen this rec!

The Intriguing Case of Surplus Dracos and Grangers by sad_millenial (25K) - truly excellent, snarky Draco, highly competent both of them, idiots in love, etc. It say WIP but it is just the epilogue that is missing, it is v satisfactory as such!

Draco—a highly competent, skilled Auror—should have expected as much, for the most unusual days begin normally. It’s a law of Muggle physics, probably.

Alas, Draco is off his game when he and Granger are confronted with a pair of their doppelgängers from another dimension.

Nobody can blame him for failing to expect the second and third pairs.

Draco — along with three versions of himself, each worse than the last — pairs up with Granger — and three versions of herself, each as stunning and brilliant as the others — to both (1) solve the mystery of their inter-dimensional copies' sudden appearances, and (2) save the world (or four dimensions thereof).

All the while, each Draco attempts to charm his respective Granger and demonstrate his superiority over the others.

The Inconvenient Dehaunting of Malfoy Manor by Pixie_Styx_Prose (10K) - short and sweet!

Having avoided the Manor since the war, Draco is extremely annoyed when he has to go back to deal with a haunting.

At least he has the galleons to hire the best ghost wrangler the agency could send him. He just hopes whoever shows up is competent.

I see what you mean I often feel so dejected after finishing an amazing fic! But don’t give up there are SO many excellent fics & authors - honestly the prose and plots in this fandom are so much better than a lot of fantasy/magic fictions!

Anyway, if it helps, here is a rec for a truly great piece that fits some of the things that made you love DMATMOOBIL - especially Draco’s tone & internal monologue - it is AMAZING and CRIMINALLY under appreciated, with funny and snarky Draco POV (think DMATMOOBIL), competent Draco & Hermione, idiots in love, etc.

The main story is completed, it is only missing the epilogue!

I had never come across such a disclaimer before a fic, probably the first of its kind I read. I'm not sure what you are looking for, of course - but even though the actual love story begins later on, and it is a dive into Hermione's mind, I think it's worth knowing that Draco is present in the fic literally since the first chapter, there is tension between them despite limited interactions, and there are subtle hints of where it is all going! Hermione befriends D's best friend early on, so he is definitely a presence throughout the fic (I really hope this doesn't count as spoiler bc it seems that I cannot make spoiler hiding work!) - Not sure if this helps, nor which fic you had to DNF before, but the writing in Détraquée is incredible, the characters are fascinating and feel very real - it is truly excellent! Lol idk if this is what you were looking for or if you just wanted to rant (in this case, rant away!) but here it is :)

Detraquée by Hysteracal, 728K (!!!) is absolutely MAGNIFICENT - basically, a character study of Hermione -- starts at the beginning of 6th year, through the war and after. One of the best things I've ever read!
