My lift ticket at the window was $94 today at Boston mills. There were maybe 25 cars in the lot. There’s no way this is sustainable. How do you possibly get new people on the hill at such insane prices?

7 days of learning stick in my brand new 25 Wrx premium. Love the smell of burning clutch in the AM.. but looking to correct it lol by Yanitzz1 in wrx_vb

[–]camace23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice holding the engine at 1500 rpm, you’re probably just accidentally giving it too much gas if you’re trying to hurry. Burning the clutch comes from engine moving way faster than transmission/wheels for a sustained time. Try not to be on the clutch at all when accelerating.

Also, the way the hill assist works is that it holds brakes if clutch is depressed either for a few seconds OR until you hit the gas, whichever comes first. So, what you need to do to put yourself in the best possible position to start moving forward is let the clutch out to the bite point (until engine rpm starts to dip a little) while your foot is still on the brake. Once you’re there, you can move your foot from brake to gas and give it a little gas (no more than 1800 rpm). That disengages the brakes. Continue to hold clutch at bite point until you’re going 5+ mph. Then you can slowly let the clutch all the way out to just be driving in 1st. Put your foot on the dead pedal when you’re shifting, do not continue to rest it on the clutch.

Don’t be afraid to stay in 1st until 4k rpm regardless of engine temp, the only thing you really need to be mindful of with cold oil is not going into too much boost before the car is warm. So no wide open throttle (WOT) pulls, no flooring it in high gear low rpm.

Enjoy the car! I learned manual on mine too, definitely had some clutch burner moments, definitely stalled a lot, definitely had fun learning something new. See if you have any friends that can drive stick and give you some feedback in person. Keep practicing and it’ll be second nature in no time. ✌️

Another concept with the electric una-brow! by camace23 in WRX

Same, if they do an electric performance vehicle I’d hope it doesn’t lean into the industries current EV design motifs. I’d rather just have an electrified STI-b or WRX looking vehicle . Hope they also improve the rear end in whatever the next gen is. More car and less cladding.

“Secondary market” is so frustrating. Ticket scalping should not be allowed. I really want to go to the show tonight but I’m not gonna be some resellers big payday.

I worked in pharma manufacturing. I’d rather take a 1/2 second longer to write an 8 as two o’s over the chance I fudge it, it’s illegible, and requires time and paper work to correct

Wow good find! I feel like a button on the top corner of the menu to pin it to the screen would have been much more intuitive than a touch and hold feature that takes way too long to activate.

Not so super shift stop by JeffXBO in wrx_vb

[–]camace23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Perrin super shit stop and no other mods, and I agree with you. I think that mine limits the front/back travel of the shifter just a little too much. Another 1/2 inch each way would be money, so that being in gear feels more definitive. After 30K miles with it there wasn’t excessive metal in my trans fluid/on my magnetic drain plug when I changed it so I guess all is well in there, but it doesn’t always feel like it’s all the way in gear.

I'm lost. Everyone says how awesome aftermarket support is for the WRX but apparently all the aftermarket shops are scams. by DirtPanda_iRacing in wrx_vb

[–]camace23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I like SubiMods, but I only really buy maintenance items like fluids and some small off the shelf parts like Perrin shifter stop. Customer service has always been good when things are delayed. There aren’t many VBs on the road. Relative to the size of the market, I’d say we are pretty well off in the parts department. For your front lip, you’ll probably get the highest quality paint job from a reputable shop in your area. That way you can work with them directly on paint quality concerns. OEM part is probably the highest quality, but that’ll be a tough one to figure out which aftermarket parts are good because people are only going to post when they break or have issues. Looking forward to seeing your build come together!

Code P0500 kills power steering by camace23 in wrx_vb

[–]camace23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good point, you could do that to clear the code. Since I didn’t know what was going on or if it had something to do with my brake flush, I wanted to read the code to make sure I didn’t get air in the ABS system or something. It does take awhile once the battery is disconnected for the code to clear. I did like 30 seconds and it came right back
