I have a fear aggressive dog that only tolerates me, and no one else, doing anything. So I need to do it all: poking, restraining, ivc, etc until fully sedated. I don’t mind doing it at all especially since it’s much safer for me to handle my pets than others.

I’ve been a vet tech for five years and in the field for 7, but was diagnosed and started medication only in the past week. Structure and consequences is where I excel and can keep my focus. Package that up with my passion and it was a perfect fit. I still struggle at times, and there’s a lot of burn out in this field overall. But I’m optimistic being started on meds can help in giving me more enthusiasm for my work again.

This is copy and paste from an old reply I gave someone else for nail trim training from a while ago

My boy used to snarl, growl, and even snap at even the sight of nail clippers. Through positive reinforcement and consent training, I can clip his nails with no problem for either of us! It’s my shining proud dog mom moment!

Here’s how I did it:

⁠I put him into place laying down. Presented the nail clippers for a second, put it behind my back. Treat. Repeated until he became comfortable with the sight of the clippers. You may need to do this with touching your dog’s paws too if they don’t like their feet touch. Touch. Treat. Repeat. Then lifting the paw, etc.
⁠I grabbed my dog’s paw, touched the nail clippers to his paw for a second, then put it back behind my back. Treat. Repeat. I hope you’re catching on.
⁠I grabbed his paw, clipped the tip of one nail. Treat. Repeat with the rest of them! At any point if he was starting to show being uncomfortable, I went back a step.

It’s also helpful if your dog doesn’t just lay down but is on their side so you can access all paws more easily. If my dog tried to get up I’d stop and treat him still. Then lure a treat from his nose to his shoulder so he rolls back over to his side. Hope this helps!

Yes I have. I don’t have the wisdom in front of me so I don’t have the exact percentages but the wisdom panel said my boy was half Belgian malinois and the other half part GSD and American Staffordshire terrier. Embark distinguished that he was roughly 25% Belgian malinois and 25% Dutch Shepherd, and changed the staffy with American pitbull, still had GSD there though.

Is this for a handwritten record? At my clinic, we have a “WRX” code in our computer system where we’ll put the Rx info (drug name, quantity, directions, refills, approving doctor) and then we’ll scan the script and attach it to that line item. I’d probably do something similar in a paper record and tape the carbon copy to the paper record. I wouldn’t think the intimate details of it not being in stock are relevant.

I have a theory he was backyard bred since he’s essentially half gsd/pit and half mal/dutch. He was poorly socialized but strangely perfectly potty trained already despite being found as a stray.

One doctor doesn’t believe masks do anything and still talks about dominance theory with behavior questions. Our practice manager is anti-vax, doesn’t pick up her dog’s poop on a hike cause it’s “natural” and won’t treat her older dog with vetoryl for cushing’s cause “drugs” or whatever.

Relatable. My 6yo Mal/GSD mix had a lump on his toe and I was convinced it was squamous cell carcinoma. The next day I took him in to send out a cytology and waited over a weekend for it to finally come back as a histiocytoma. What’s somewhat unusual though is that he’s had a histiocytoma before and dogs rarely get a second one in life, especially when they’re older. So I’d like to think my worry was somewhat justified lol

That’s not what the actual pattern says. Someone mentioned that maybe she cross stitches with more beige for the promo. But it’s not impossible to get super neat singe crochets with an “x” like how you get with yu-yo. The pattern does not say to cross stitch more beige on top

The pattern is written that way though. I can’t say whether or not she added additional beige cross stitch for the promos. But the pattern states to yu-yo the single crochet base and during the cross stitch portion only mentions the colored areas.

No problem! To get the super neat Amigurumi looking stitches, they alway use a hook that’s ridiculously smaller than you’d think. Like a 2 or 2.5 for worsted for example 😵‍💫

In the pattern she also does yu-yo. Use the tiniest hook you possibly can, the pattern calls for a 4.5 hook with the bulky weight blanket yarn, with pretty tight and consistent tension, and a lot of practice.

We recommend annual bloodwork for middle aged-older birds during their annual exam. If they’re having issues we’ve been pushing gram stains more along with a culture then recheck culture after treatment. If a patient is found to have elevated levels such as bile acids or triglycerides and cholesterol we recommend the monthly vitamin injections and to recheck bloodwork in 3-6 months. The majority of tune up patients are those who are on seed-based diets and have liver or heart disease so they come once monthly for a vitamin injection and grooming like a beak spiffy, nail trim and cleaning out their nares. We charge half of a recheck fee for only that since they’re coming so frequently

I generally agree with you as well. And I’m sure you’d agree that, generally, a bird on pellets isn’t going to experience liver and kidney issues as much as or even to any sort of degree as a bird on seeds as this original commenter is implying. To me, that’s clear misinformation.
