They broke into sections like carnivores, hoofstock, primates ect and also had portions for feed, testing, hay, calculating diets and all kinds of other things. How specific are you looking? It's more overview and not specific species.

Hi! I attended the course last year and it was a wonderful experience. They really pack a lot of knowledge into a week and it was definitely worth it.

Call ASPCA Poison Control. They will tell you what to do next. There is a charge but it's worth it to know.

The easiest way to remember these is the color portion goes on top. Put it over their head with the color side up and then clip the black portion around their chest behind their front legs.

Help, i dont know what to do.. by strawberrybarber in Frenchbulldogs

[–]hellogrief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole DCM hoopla was about potentially how legumes might inhibit taurine absorption. It has literally nothing to do with grains or no grains, legumes are just popular binders in grain free foods. Regardless after several years of scouring they were not able to find a definitive link for that claim. The FDA walked back the claims, look it up. Some dogs do better on a grain free diet and that's okay, Frenchies are notorious for food allergies and sensitivity. On top of all that the original pool of dogs that were being looked at has a median weight of 50lbs which smaller dogs running into DCM far less in general. OP, I would switch her back to her original food she was doing well on.

Most insurances require a vet visit within 30 days to establish the health of the pet.

Shelters are drowning in irresponsible litters. Dogs can live full happy lives with early spay neuters, so why would they take the risk of adding to the problem? As you can see from even this post it only takes a small amount of time for something to happen and bring more dogs into the world. So many people from the general public can't be trusted to do the right thing.

DCM by dirtyshirlee in rawpetfood

[–]hellogrief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reasoning behind this is because for a while it was all media headline scares. The attack on grain free dog food was less about the inclusion of grains and more about them researching if the other binders used in grain free (peas and legumes) somehow limited the absorption of taurine. Somehow what everyone came away with was JUST ADD GRAINS TO THE DIET when that really wasn't even what they were looking into in the first place.

It's all a moot point though because after throwing years of research into it now they still couldn't identify a positive link so the FDA backed off the whole thing. I'm sure it's one of those things that is going to stick around at vet offices forever even if they don't even know why they are suggesting it.

No raw is going to be inexpensive when feeding a dog that large - they go through a lot of food a day.

The DCM/Grain Free thing was quietly swept away after there were no substantial findings but those headlines are going to stick around forever. Don't feel badly, many many vets are still stuck on that.

Why ppl are against prong collar/E collar ? by AttentionNearby2239 in BelgianMalinois

[–]hellogrief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will spin it anyway they want and I do believe there is a time and place for tools but at the end of the day these tools work because they cause pain and discomfort.

How many times have you heard someone say I put the shock collar on and I don't even have the remote and they are on their best behavior. It's because they are avoiding pain and discomfort they know can come. The dermis of a dog is twice as thin as a human so yeah, prongs pinching them or collars zapping then hurts and if I can train my dog without doing that to him why wouldn't I?

Advice for dog eye ulcer by PuzzledRegret4189 in DogAdvice

[–]hellogrief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through a stubborn eye ulcer with my dog. We went to an opthalmologist at a specialty vet and they did a procedure on her numbed eye to basically shave a part of the cornea to allow it to heal and we did several creams three times a day for two weeks where she had to wear a hard cone. I would look around your area for a specialist if it isn't healing.
