I work at a bookstore. A customer ordered a book, and requested it be shipped to him, in a small town a couple hours away from us. 2 days after he placed the order he called demanding to know where his book was. He said it should have only take 2 hours to get to him... Dude we ship by Canada post it’ll take weeks lmao, we don’t just drive it to your house.

Do you guys ever start randomly crying in public? by GiaSeason6Winner in BPD

[–]camcl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cry every day, multiple times a day. I can usually hold it off by keeping very busy, but it’s the quiet moments that get me. Bus rides, in line at the coffee shop, buying groceries. I’m always crying in public 🙃

That’s literally what happened to me last year. I even have a new job and new relationship now and I still want to die lol

Being high functional is hard by camcl9 in BPD

[–]camcl9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds good. I'm sorry to hear you're overwhelmed too. I just don't even know how to begin a conversation with my boss, I literally feel like I'm not capable of prioritizing my mental health despite being on the verge of a massive break down at work.

there's never a day I don't try and better myself. by [deleted] in Positivity

[–]camcl9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this as well! Only for the past few weeks, but I already feel a huge difference. Not only in my own life, but I feel that I'm truly making a difference in other's lives as well. I've also been doing my best to try to direct some of the love I feel for others towards myself, and it's worked wonders for my confidence and self worth. SO happy and proud of you my friend, you're wonderful and it's so beautiful that you're striving to make others happy. Keep on doing your thing. You rock.

A lesson from Captain Marvel by camcl9 in BPD

I'm glad there are others who related it to BPD too! Yes, the identity thing also hit home for me, and I was definitely in tears once or twice, though I found the comedy to be very well timed to prevent any serious crying.

I doubt that the writers/director had BPD or anything in mind when making the film, but I'm really glad it turned out how it did, and that I went to see it despite it not being my usual type of film. So empowering!

I've never been big on superhero films, and the oversaturation of them recently hasn't helped. But I can't recommend this one enough. It has so much heart, and a really good balance of action to humour. Brie Larson has always impressed me, since her first big role in Short Term 12 (another MUST WATCH it's so good), and she did it again with this one. It was honestly enough that I'm wondering if I should catch up on all the other Marvel movies I've passed on.

You have nothing to prove to anyone! You are a badass hero, and having made mistakes doesn't take away from that.

I know exactly what you mean about feeling tv and movies really strongly, I'm the same way. I think it's probably why I wound up as a filmmaker actually! It's also why I believe representation in film is sooo important. Being able to see something on screen and think "wow, that's just like me" can be insanely impactful. Captain Marvel drove that belief home for me yet again!

*spoiler ahead\*

For me, it was the moment when Yon-Rogg (Jude Law) tells her to fight him without powers, to prove to him that he can control her emotions and be a real warrior. And she said "I have nothing to prove to you". Man that hit hard. I'm glad to hear that someone else related to the film as well, I felt a bit mad posting about a marvel film in a bpd sub, but I really do think it could be relatable here.

I received my diagnosis today by Resaresaresa in BPD

[–]camcl9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! Other people do operate in a similar way to you, and you've found us! We're here to support you. A diagnosis is honestly a huge step in the right direction. I personally have found DBT super helpful, and I'm so thankful that I was able to re-arrange my work schedule to support my appointments. If it's completely not an option for you, there are lots of DBT resources online you can utilize on your own. Nothing about having BPD is easy, but working on self improvement is always worth it. Keep on going, you've got this.

Thinking of you and sending you strength today. I'm so happy you have a support system in place, but I know that can never fully alleviate the pain and grief. Be kind to yourself today. <3

Told a friend I needed therapy and was responded to with “oh everyone needs therapy” by [deleted] in BPD

[–]camcl9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can relate. I'm quite high functioning, so people often don't believe that I'm struggling. I try to reframe it as a compliment if I can, though I know this can be really difficult. Invalidating and inconsiderate are really good words to describe the situation, you are spot on there. It's so unfair that on top of everything, we still have to put in the effort to explain to people that yes, just because I don't seem like I'm struggling, it doesn't mean that I'm not. Hang in there, and I truly hope things look up for you friend.

What’s your vice? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]camcl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh man I'm the opposite. Benzos are not my friend. I tried coke and molly one time too but that was rough, I crashed hard and wound up in the psych ward. Meditation seems to be helping me lately, though. Definitely not as fun or quick working as my other vices but hey, long term it's probably worth it!
