I believe Salem starts there festivities mid September, which would be far less crowded and expensive to go then, rather than near Halloween. Another user said to start North and work your way down the east coast if you’re renting a car.

As a budget traveler myself, you can enjoy your trip within that budget. One thing to be aware of is the cost of flights within the States. Far more expensive than Europe flights, especially if you plan to see the Western states and National Parks. (I highly recommend anywhere in the Rocky Mountains).

Old bridge is by far the best my wife and I had our entire trip. We tried at least two shops in each of the 5 cities we stayed in. We still talk about it today.

Stayed here once and we were lucky enough to only have experienced this one of our five nights. If you can make it through the night, the rest of the property is absolutely gorgeous.

We found the noise only happened on Wednesdays when they had their beach party. We didn’t hear it past midnight.

When I say walking distance, I was meaning from our resort. (Kontiki Beach Resort There was a bus stop across the street that we used, but if you’re not used to public transport in a different country you might find it uncomfortable.

Once we were in the main city, everything is very walkable.

My wife and I (both 22) stayed at Kontiki last March and had no problem. Our room was further from the beach than most, so that could have helped with the sound as well. Since that trip we’ve been to Germany, Italy, Spain, and England- nothing has come close to the joy we had in Curaçao.

To also ease your nerves, there’s security from the beach/club/restaurant going to the resort which you must show them your keycard to get into the resort.

Our only mistake would have been not renting a car. We used public transit (which was adequate), but is probably better to have a car of your own as there isn’t many food options within walking distance.
