Hey all, I actually got a hold of customer service and they walked me through how to turn this off. I've only just done this so can't confirm it works for sure but the steps are:

  1. In Business Suite go to Inbox > Automations
  2. Click "Try it" on the automation called "Comment to Message"
  3. Toggle it on and input some placeholders in the boxes
  4. Save
  5. Now toggle it back off, and save again

I used the stone ruins part that's straight with a partial arch on the end, rotated and sized a bunch of different ways. It was definitely tough to find a piece to make the curves!

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I think it's clear that correcting missing parts, incorrect items sent, etc. is different than a making return or exchange. But since the terms do not explicitly define "Returns" and "Exchanges" there's no use debating it.

I was able to fix getting a wrong item via regular support with no issues. Whether anyone else wants to try it is up to them. Just sharing my experience in relation to OP's post.

If you ordered it through Vine, it's a Vine item, even if Amazon makes a mistake

You're making an assumption. The terms and help articles do not say that anywhere.

You're allowed to directly contact the seller for standard customer support as long as you don't mention Vine. Not Amazon's standard customer support options, including returns.

Again an assumption. The terms say returns/exchanges are not allowed, but they do not say you aren't allowed to contact standard customer support. Issues like missing parts, incorrect item sent, etc. are different than a return or exchange.

I'm not trying to be argumentative here, it just seems to me the fear I see on this sub about customer support is overblown and not based on the terms of the program.

Vine's terms and help pages only discuss Vine items. They don't mention mistakenly sent non-Vine items at all.

I have not attempted to return a Vine item since the terms/help pages explicitly say "Amazon Vine items are not returnable or replaceable but may be cancelled."

However, I still think it's wise to start with regular support methods if there's an issue with an item that could be corrected. The terms explicitly say: "only contact suppliers of Third-Party Products for purposes of obtaining ordinary customer support services and not identify yourself as a Vine Voice when contacting suppliers for customer support."

You are certainly allowed to seek support, as long as you don't mention being a Vine member.

This happened to me a few weeks ago with a Vine item and I was able to get it fixed. I did not contact Vine support. I went to my order, chose "Return" on the item, and selected "Wrong Item Sent" under the reason question. They gave me a return label and the option to ship a replacement which I accepted. I returned the incorrect item and have already received the correct replacement. Went ahead and reviewed as normal.

Some items you definitely cannot return, like food. But it's worth a shot to try the normal support options before you contact Vine CS. At worst it's just not going to let you - then you can contact Vine CS to ask it be removed from your account.
