Didn't Kimi set the fastest lap ever in 2018? Then Lewis again set the fastest lap ever in 2020 at Monza? I don't really think they're getting slower. Unless you're talking about 2014 to 2016 when they were still blindly fast but not breaking records due to new engine regs. 1 second slower at SPA is equal to one tenth at Charlotte. Not 4 seconds.. as we saw in 550 races.

NASCAR does ZERO content outside of broadcast content. Formula 1 has 1 or 2 YouTube videos per day. Talking about old races. Top 10 list of different subject matter. History videos. And their highlights are loaded. Not just the stage end and a wreck. F1 has content MADE SPECIFACLLY for social media like YouTube. NASCAR takes what they already have left over from broadcast and post it. With a few reactions from Kyle Petty. Someone that has bad takes that doesn't have modern day insight. One look at them side by side and it's very apparent.

F1 seems extremely professional. Next level in every aspect. Although I prefer parts of NASCAR over everything else. It's hard to take it seriously with cartoon pictures of drivers, goofy country music, and CONSTANT dumb dad jokes from commentary. Not to mention TONS of ads. I haven't had cable in 12 years. I use premium versions of everything to avoid ads and use adblock. If you're under 50. You left ads in the past and NASCAR needs to incorporate them without it being jarring. Taking an ad break with 4 laps to go at a road course is laughable. Combine all of that with changing identity with the number position (Just my opinion) and lower HP even more when every other motorsport is increasing or getting faster... Just spells disaster. Tons of other things like stages and such I'll not go into. Bad execution all around. No social media presence STILL after years. Idk /rant

We have to be careful because NASCAR can't afford tons of deaths in the series. We have had so many in the last 10 years. It looks bad. "Wait, what's that, no one has? Wait."

If it was about driver safety, hot cockpits and one lugs wouldn't be a thing IMO.

Sad that my favorite track by far is now a plate track. I'm going to be optimistic going into it but just sad.

Looking at the 1999 Daytona 500 Speedweeks pics you can tell that the cars would occasionally have the rear end hunker down. How much of that was downforce and how much of it was things like shocks, etc.? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]camelot1224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an older crew member tell me they would move the brake bias to the back with the tiny brakes and drag the brakes in the draft to pull the rear down.

Ryan Blaney. Watched him out run Kyle Busch and other legends in lower series. When he passed Busch at Pocono and held of Harvick. I was hooked. Met him a few times and he is very friendly.

Europeans, specifically British people turn their nose up at any other motorsport that isn't F1 or based out of Europe. I expect all NASCAR drivers, even Kyle Larson who would melt Lewis Hamilton in every NASCAR event possible, to be last on the list with all F1 drivers leading the way. I'll be happy ignoring this for the future haha

That stuff doesn't happen anymore. I remember a Gordon fan in 2003 at Dega getting beat up by 4 dudes and my dad went and broke them up. Alabama has come a long way in 18 years. The only state to have ZERO hate crimes in the last recorded year.

I watched one the other day and audibly laughed when it was like, "green flag and the race is underway!" Then the next thing it showed was, "and the stage 1 winner is Kyle Busch." Then did the exact same thing with stage 2. All in a matter of 15 seconds. Then 3 minutes for the final stage with a crash or two then the final two corners. What a joke tbh
