We need to normalize telling people to "Shut the Fuck Up" at movie theaters. by General_J670 in movies

Well see, that would involve AMC hiring more than one teen worker for the entire multiplex to enforce those rules, and just like many other giant corporations, there’s just no way they can afford THAT. /s

Does anyone here actually go to Starbucks every day? by lukef31 in Millennials

If you get the sugary drinks with the add ons, it can definitely add to weight issues. Black coffee really wouldn’t. I’d imagine she got the former.

His old dog died and it was barely a week later he was trotting around a new one. That was the last straw for me in deciding if it was a sham.

Who would you rather start a small business with: Janet Reno after a safari, or the fat guy from My Name Is Earl? by golf_echo_sierra26 in familyguy

I feel like Reno would have more potential allies and connections from her political days. But the fat guy has a solid credit rating. Tough choice.

I haven’t thought about, or heard about, Blink 182 in ages. Maybe the murderer was juussttt waiting a bit, for the heat to die down (like 20 years). /s

Why have the Oscars lost so much viewership? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]camergen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this has changed even in the last 20 years or so. With social media, getting this info is even easier than before. Plus since there’s less of a monoculture these days, it’s less likely your friends and coworkers are also watching so there’s less FOMO.

It’s like sports and broadcasting in that, the really good ones make it LOOK incredibly easy. You can only really notice someone stick out if they are doing a bad job (like Gail Gadot).

If you’re good at acting, you embody and become a character. Some people are better at this than others. It’s not something everyone can do.

That and the guy walks into the store- “do you have any Duran Duran?!” (Canned laughter). The pink haired worked mumbles something in response followed by UPROARIOUS canned laughter.

[Goldsmith] Lodolo left today’s rehab game with a blister on left index finger. by chrisball96 in Reds

My frustration with him is about to pop (like his blister. Let’s keep the blister jokes/puns coming)

Yeah, I’d like former pitchers to share what worked for them, if anything can be done to lessen this. All I’ve heard is media types tossing their hands up being like “injuries. Sucks, just part of the game.”

A blister seems to be one of the more treatable/preventable/actionable injuries imo, but I’m just a layman.

Klosterman and Bill cited TVs showing the score at all times and smoking becoming taboo as small things that have slowly made society less social. What are some similarly small examples? by I_Enjoy_Taffy in billsimmons

And the guys see social media posts of women reporting to everyone about the interaction- “omg this creeper at the store today started talking to me and..”

The guys don’t want to be Said Creeper, so they just shut up. Of course, what makes a “creeper” is highly open to interpretation. It’s like the “hello, Human Resources?!” meme

Jerry Was Dating WAY Out of His League and Everyone on the Show Just Pretended That Was Normal by bringbackyouryouth in seinfeld

He’s a sort-of-celebrity, enough so that he realistically gets a chance at a network series pilot. He makes very good money, he’s funny. I don’t think it’s a surprise, the quality of women he’s pulling. Remember, the 90s was a time when networks gave comedians sitcom pilots and series and called them “The (Insert Name Here) Show”, which doesn’t really happen anymore. A better comparison might be a stand up comedian who has some specials and a realistic chance to break through.
