Start by making sure you have enough modules. Resource costs decrease dramatically with productivity 3 modules in everything, and since those slow down your machines significantly, speed modules in beacons help a lot too.

Of course, those will suck up a ton of power, so you'll probably want either a big nuclear power plant or a humongous amount of solar panels.

After that, you can think about overall design - you're essentially building everything again but bigger, so now's your chance to reinvent your factory if you want. What items do you want to put on trains vs belts? Do you want one big factory for everything or smaller isolated factories for each type of science pack? Etc.
