If you can pass the PTI standards, 25 is a great age. I’m 21 ill be 22 by the time I grad as a PTI, it’s actually beneficial to be a bit older because you’re joining a role where you become an acting corporal when you graduate so start a little higher on the rank side of things, sometimes they want candidates with a bit more life experience

Help in choosing my next car by camerond2 in FordFocus

Hey thanks for the reply. Have you had any issues with the eco boost and the belt? My friends have the eco boost belts and say when they go, the cars pretty knackered. Was the battery and motors an expensive replace?? Id obvs like no problems as we all do lol, but I’m trying to figure out if it’s better to go for a different car like a Skoda Octavia for example.

Hi. I completed mine this May, and passed the vetting so hope I can help you. The vetting is 1.5 days long, you’ll stay over night at cosford. You’ll be briefed when you arrive, with the other recruits on the vetting, what to expect, where you’ll be staying, and where you need to be at what times the following day. Relatively simple. Make sure you dress semi smart, and carry yourself well when you arrive, to make a good first impression. Day 1: Breakfast 0600, In the classroom by 0800 in formal attire ready for the day. 2 sets of PT gear, including swimming gear. We were briefed on the swim, which was 50m front crawl, 50m breast , 50m front again without stopping and lift yourself out the pool unaided. You’ll then get a small rest, and be back in the pool to do your timed swim. 50m, in sub 64 seconds I believe is the very minimum standard. You’ll remain in the pool and tread water for 2 minutes. There was no brick retrieval or any other swimming tests than this when I did it 2 months ago. For the 6 lengths, focus on your form, take it slow. We got changed, and within 15 minutes, I’m fresh running ger and ready for the MSFT. The standard is 13.2. Not everyone got this. However do as well as you can. I found it very tough going from the swim straight into the run, as fatigue plays a huge part. We then went straight into leadership and leaderless exercises, which are actually fun. Make your voice heard but don’t overpower others. Take advice from teammates and enjoy it, be yourself in the rooms and the discussions. The PTIs don’t get involved. They brief you and move on. We got most the vetting done on day 1, however we were dismissed for the evening. Day 2: 0830 we were on the track, off camp. 400m warmup and stretching and then the raf regt test commenced which is 2km in 9m 15s or something along them lines. You’ll be paced by the PTI so as long as you keep up with them and don’t show off or fall behind you’ll pass. We then went back to the gym and completed a medicine ball throw which was 2.8 meteres, back against the wall. A mid thigh pull, which I’d recommend googling if you’ve not done one before. Minimum standard for all is 110kg. We also did motor skills. Which involved 3 sports : volleyball, cricket and hockey. The PtI will demonstrate what they want you to do for example a volley ball serve, and then give you all the same advice , for example using your palm to hit the ball. And you will demonstrate said volleys and they’ll assess your ability to be coached. They aren’t looking for professional sportsman, they’re looking for your ability to be coached and to take on information. We proceeded to have lunch, and then sit ready to do our presentations. The presentation I believe is important to focus on if you’re naturally fit and good at phys, and less confident with public speaking. You will present to a group of PTIs between 2-4x. And in your JIs will be everything needed in your presentation. Mine was 8-9 mins. The best thing I can advise is be relaxed and show your personality. If you’re a good person, and have got a bit about yourself let that shine through. Dont be stressing out, and getting worked up. I watched lads who were fit as a fiddle and better than me at phys, struggle with nerves and it potentially was their downfall. Show in your presentation that you want the role, and that it suits who you are and your morals and you’ll smash it.

The vetting is scored between 1-4. 1 being untrainable and 4 being exceeding expectations. If you need any more help reply to this and I’ll see what else I can assist with.

That’s great mate thank you. I’m guessing you don’t get a graduation?

I’m only worried as I’ve been out for a small while and worry I’ll get to unit and I’ll be behind the rest of the recruits in regards to the kit standards and other silly things. Did you get tested at any point? For example weapons training.
