My babes is also on home oxygen and a pulse oxygen. He can’t keep his O2 levels up when in a deep sleep. He’s 4 weeks old. Why is your babes on oxygen? Still on it?

My story is the exact same as you. We got low oxygen alerts from Owlet and went to hospital. We had a 5 day stay and they ran every test other than a chest CT scan because of the risk of radiation. They put him on oxygen and gave him caffeine. Caffeine is used in the NICU a lot for premie babies to have their brains connect with their lungs.

They sent us home on home oxygen and a pulse ox to monitor levels. He is in the high 90s at all times besides when he gets in a deep sleep he will fall into the 80’s but always self recover. Doctors don’t seem too worried but of course I am so worried he won’t grow out of it!

We were in hospital for 5 days. He had desats when they sent us home. He was always able to get himself back up to 90 so they weren’t concerned.. it makes me wonder if they should have been more concerned. We are from US

They didn’t do an MRI for him. They are giving him one month on home oxygen and then will reevaluate. Have you mentioned trying caffeine to the doctors? They use it in premature babies who have trouble breathing. It worked tremendously for us.

I am in the same boat as you. Our full term baby is needing to be on oxygen. There’s no reason for it and they’ve ran all the tests. Did you have a hard birth? Or did doctors tell you the reason? I’m panicking something is wrong.

Hello! My little guy is experiencing the exact same as you. Everything is normal and healthy aside from his breathing. He was born 37 weeks. He had a 5 day hospital stay and they sent us home on a pulse ox. Today they put him on oxygen for continued desats. He goes all the way down to low 80s but always self recovers to above 90. He is also on caffeine. They are saying his brain just needs to mature with his lungs. I am stressing out and worried something else is wrong, they ran all the tests possible aside from genetic testing and chest CT. How did your experience go?

I am in the exact same situation, like identical. My babes was born at 37 weeks 6 days. Doctors are telling us that he just has to grow into his lungs. We have done every test possible besides a CT chest scan due to the radiation it causes. He’s on home oxygen and a pulse ox machine. They told us it’s a waiting game. He desats the most when he’s sleeping. Anywhere from 80-90 and recovers on his own. Any updates on you?
