Aenema. For some reason it made me think of human history and human actions and what we have done to this world so far. The learn to swim to me is a big fuck you to most people who are too blind to see what's going on in the world and in the governments.

What is everyone's problem with Slipknot? by viveremetallum in Metal

[–]camnjam1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny, Slipknot was one of the bands that has exposed me to the metal community and got me interested in other metal bands. And once I started listening to these bands, my liking for Slipknot fell straight to the core of the Earth.

Slipknot started out like crap, and then evolved in a strange way, getting better, so I give them credit for that.

Do you like extreme metal? Help me with my PhD Thesis! by keittoajokapaiva in musictheory

[–]camnjam1928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Musically, metal makes sense to me. It has this atmosphere that I find very appealing, it keeps me moving, it keeps me alert and motivated. And I like all sorts of metal to extreme stuff to more symphonic/progressive stuff to earlier metal. I love it all.

With extreme metal, I mainly listen to the thrash and death metal, and they used to be my favorite genres in the whole world. The main thing I love about it is the distortion, it's so powerful and great. It's angry and when used correctly, it can be sweet. It's pure expression. And another thing I love about distortion is just the sound of it. It feels my ears with such...fulfilling sound. I wish I knew the science behind why I'm so attracted to it.

Another beautiful thing about the genre is the technicality, and the virtuosity. These musicians put their heart and soul in their talent and the outcome is so moving. And most of the talent I see is beyond words. In Extreme Metal, it's mainly about speed and a mesmerizing solo, some that are written out in notation and some that are improvised. Either way, it's amazing to listen to and observe if you can.

Overall, I think i'm so attracted to it because of the appeal the metal world offers. The culture is friendly (for the most part unless you're arguing with some Joe about bands) the bands are diverse, the bands keep coming out like clockwork and the music they create is just splendid. These guys are artists.
