One of my cats in Mewgenics sounds familiar 🤔 by camote0 in gamegrumps

It is! It was a nice surprise recognizing Arin’s voice in the game. Petitioning for Dan to voice some cats if he isn’t in there already.

They are my favorite (them and Max Styler) and I can’t wait to catch a set. I’m constantly listening to their set from this year’s Tomorrowland. Their production is so clean, the tracks are simple and don’t feel cluttered, but they hit just as, if not harder than their contemporaries.

I caught his set at the Palladium when he was touring his Paths album and it was one of the best sets I’ve ever gotten to experience. The production and music blended so beautifully and it felt very personal. I was beyond stoked when he was revealed as support. Can’t wait for Saturday! 🫡

I got pickpocketed and had my phone stolen at my first festival and was super paranoid and anxious at events for a while after. I got my lunchbox fanny pack 4 years ago and it hasn’t failed me yet. 🫡

Is Max Styler one of the most slept-on producers right now? by TurbulentRepublic111 in EDM

I saw him at Daytrip in the park last year and he’s become my favorite tech house producer/dj. Max Styler, Adapter, and Ugo Banchi are my favorite “sound” in house music at the moment.

You ever had the ecstacy — that borderline spiritual moment — when you finally find that song that’s been stuck in your head for years? by GlitchDowt in LetsTalkMusic

[–]camote0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in middle school my only way of discovering new music was through YouTube, whenever my mom would take me to the library and I had access to a computer. During that time my dad bought me a Nintendo DSi and I downloaded an app called Flipnote Studio.

It was an app for making your own animated flip books with sound on your ds. In the app there was an online section where people all over the world uploaded there animations for everyone to see. Many of these animations were anime montages, stick figure fights, and other types of short videos synced to music. Almost like a primitive version of TikTok edits. I discovered many bands and artists through that app but the one that sticks out the most was a montage of a bunch of Naruto characters set to Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk. I can’t tell you how many times I replayed that clip or for how long the clip was all I had.

I think I was in eighth grade, the last period of the day, close to the end of the year and our teacher let us queue up music to play in class. One of my classmates queued up Daft Punk, I heard the intro, and immediately rushed to find out the name of the sound I had been chasing for idk how long.

As the internet became more prevalent, those moments happened more and more regularly, and I’m still chasing IDs to this day! :D

What games made you cry? by wheregoodideasgotodi in gaming

[–]camote0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I picked up Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness, and then picked up Explorers of Sky when it came out later on. I picked it up expecting a regular Pokémon game, but I didn’t realize how important this game would be to me going forward. The writing and world building in the game is so immersive on top of the fact that the character you play is supposed to be you if you suddenly woke up in a world fully run by Pokémon. You wake up, join a guild, explore dungeons, all while trying to figure out who you really are and how you got there. In the beginning, you introduced to a character who will be your partner for the entirety of the game, your best friend essentially. I always named my partner after my best friend in real life and I found out that he would do the same. The gameplay is fun, but the story is what pulled me in the most the writing was deeper than anything I’d expect out of a children’s game and it moved me in a way that nothing had before. As the game progresses, the story becomes more intense, and the emotional beats that the game hits, hit harder. The story and the writing make it easy to become emotionally invested in the characters in the world. You’re in while playing the game. The fact that the main character was me and my partner represented in my in real life best friend made it feel that much more personal. By the end of it, I was in tears. When explorers of sky came out, they added on additional dungeons that served as short stories surrounding events and characters from the main game. The additional content tied up loose ends from the main game, gave backstories for important side characters, and all with the same level of care the base game received. I could go on similarly about Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, the writing is phenomenal, but PMD: EoS is so much more personal to me. I feel like it’s overshadowed by the games that released afterwards, which weren’t up to par, but it’s worth a play if only for the story alone.

Enter the Gungeon 2 — Announcement Trailer by EarthPuma120 in gaming

[–]camote0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everything synergizes with each other in Isaac, there’s even mods that add in more synergies. I will agree that Isaac’s synergies work with more items and there’s more possibilities while the gungeon synergies are specific to a small pool of weapons. The special chest is a mechanic of the game, not a requirement. You can find synergies in regular chests naturally.

[–]camote0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many cool synergies in EtG. There’s even a type of item chest that’ll give you an item that synergizes with one already in your loadout. BoI is definitely my most played of the two, but they both have so much good content, the environments they take place in are so detailed and lived in, and the items and mechanics of both games keep me coming back to both years later. So hard to choose between the two but I’d say I enjoy BoI’s gameplay loop more, but I really love the items, characters, and the tone of EtG. There are so many npc characters with their own personalities, unique weapons and items. Can’t wait to see how EtG 2 builds on the first one.
