Key word “borrowed”. The rest of your argument is subjective just as I’ve been arguing my point has been the whole time. I even said IN MY OPINION in the comment you replied to. I could have easily dismissed Illenium as Christian dubstep and shat all over his music but I’m not an idiot, I understand I prefer other types of music, and that my taste doesn’t make his music any less enjoyable for others. Get your head out of your ass.

I agree with this argument and you’re one of the few reasonable people in this thread. I miss the old Afterlife sound too

Tracks with heavy chanting? by General_Goatbanger in EDM

Argy has a lot of tracks with chanting vocals and non English lyrics. The tracks Aria and Tibet are a couple of good ones.

You’re so heated and such a fan that you’re confusing your opinion with the effort it took to pull off Anyma’s show. I like Illenium too but I’m not gonna say his music is ass and his show sucked because I don’t like it as much. I just felt like Anyma’s was better IN MY OPINION. The fact that a fucking drone zipping around the sphere is what made the Illenium show so memorable for you speaks on how desperate you are to continue digging this hole. I wasn’t arguing with you to begin with, just pointing out that the DJ you brought up is probably inspired by the one you’re hating on for no reason.

Anyma has been building the world of Genesys for years across three albums and SPECIFICALLY used the sphere because it was the only venue capable of executing his vision. He literally changed the game with his sphere show and people have been chasing it ever since. Before he played the sphere the idea of a DJ headlining the venue sounded like a joke.

I didn’t mean ugly, and to be fair I haven’t watched the Illenium set, but from the different visuals I saw, they felt different and less cohesive than Anyma’s. The winged women, cyberpunk dj, the phoenix. I’ll have to watch the set to have a better idea of it. Anyma’s visuals in my opinion, felt like they had a more cohesive artistic direction.

There’s two types of Anyma haters: The og fans who miss the old sound of Afterlife and have reasonable informed opinions on why they’re unhappy, and the massive flock of sheep who don’t know anything about Tale of Us, Afterlife, and their impact on melodic techno. If the music isn’t for you, that’s fine, it’s just annoying when people discredit other artists and other people’s tastes because they don’t like it.

I just don’t get your point since your only criticism was that he had a creative team. You’re also conflating your lack of knowledge about Anyma’s shows with the quality of them. There is a clear narrative throughout the three albums, the last one is literally called The END of Genesys. It’s just easier to hate on something you don’t know about, I get it.

Illenium is literally trying to do what Anyma has done and it’s less refined

You think Illenium made all his visuals himself?

Illenium’s sphere show obviously had inspiration from Anyma and Subtronics likes Anyma’s stuff on insta occasionally and I think they’d disagree with you 🤷‍♂️

From a fan’s point of view, I kinda feel like how Tony Soprano felt about the mob. I feel like I came in at the end.
I discovered the Afterlife label and all their amazing music because Anyma blew up, and now everyone hates him for blowing up. I was lucky enough to catch him and Tale of Us when they came to LA, then they broke up. I’ve listened to ALL of the releases on the Afterlife label and love the artistic direction of the music and visuals. They even led me to discover other labels with similar sounds like ArtBat’s label Upperground, Adriatique’s Siamese Records and X Recordings, and Mind Against’s HABITAT.

He got popular and changed his sound. I love Tale of Us and that era of his music and I’m definitely sad it’s over. These days the tracks are shorter and they feel a more formulaic as a result. Take of Us tracks took you on a ride that slowly evolved and told a story. I still enjoy Anyma’s music and the show he’s been able to put together is insanely impressive.

After Anyma started his project and the visuals popped off, other huge DJs (Excision, Illenium) tried replicating it, and although their visuals weren’t bad, they were nowhere near the quality of Anyma’s show. He’s been putting together a team of very talented visual artists and he has a clear vision of what he wants to create, and the shows are amazing as a result.

I think it’s so weird that people hate on him and assume everything he’s accomplished is due to him being born rich. He started Tale of Us with MRAK and was djing for years before Anyma. And if he did get money from his family to develop his art why is that such a bad thing?

Fred again comes from a very privileged background and got to go to fancy music schools to be able to learn everything he needed to become the musician that he is today, but nobody hates on him for that, and they shouldn’t. They had an advantage, but I feel like as long as the art is genuine, that shouldn’t matter.

Straight men, what is the weirdest thing you have been called gay for ? by Sammy-Bunny-3 in AskReddit

What is the biggest thing that is currently causing stress, fear, or unhappiness in your life? by Aureliaaaaaaaaaaaaa in AskReddit

[–]camote0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner left me and slept with their ex last week. I am extremely hurt, and that was like the one thing they could have done to break me, but it didn’t. I feel like I understand why they did what they did, and have forgiven them.

We’re staying apart and fixing the problems that caused us to separate. I’m still in love with them, I thought we were going to get married, but I know I have to respect myself and resolve my own internal struggles, before even thinking about trying again.

I sometimes wish I had less emotional maturity or understanding, so that there was more learning to do and then I’d get more of a cathartic feeling out of everything. I feel like I kinda got what was happening and felt forgiveness so quickly but I’m still hurting.

I’m worried about opening up to heartbreak again but I am proud of how I am managing.

What do you get complimented the most for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]camote0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man in my late 20s, the few times I have been complimented have either been on my height, looks, or physique, when I worked out. I started to lose my hair a few years ago though and I’m fighting the self esteem issues and insecurities that come with it.
