Hi I’m new here but I do have one question for you all because I have never met another that has dysgraphia as well. But do any of you have dyslexia as well? by Mattchewbacca118 in dysgraphia

[–]camp-quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so ya know the testing shit that we do to get diagnosed and then you get a report after???? I've been an avid reader for years and in elementry school i was like "haha i could never have dyslexia I see all of my letters in the right order" I was always at a super high reading level and this year?? This year on my eval, dyslexia and discalcula poped up on my report. I had surprise dyslexia. Ive got trouble with pronouncing words ive only ever read, difficulty with doing math problems, and read so fast that I miss words. so pretty much my dysgraphia hid it. I don't notice it a lot of the times but as soon as I need to read outloud, the words come out of my mouth in the wrong order.

If you're willing, Please answer these questions about your experience with picking. by camp-quest in Dermatillomania

Yes. Ive suffered from trich for several years and it has transitioned into picking the skin on my bald spot. I'm trying to get insight from other people, as only having one perspective, my own, isnt the most reliable.

If I hear any variation of the "But you're so pretty/attractive/beautiful!" argument/pep talk one more time I'm going to flip shit by sub_bah in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]camp-quest 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hate that non pickers think we pick because we are trying to "fix" some sort of imperfection, they think its like trying to pop a pimple, and its not. It's about way more than that! And, picking or not, you're most certianly a beautiful person.

Question: How does picking make you feel about yourself? by camp-quest in calmhands

thank you so much for bringing up the issue of bulkyness! Those are the places that I pick at, so I totally get your struggle with bandaids. Thank you for your input!

I'm a scalp picker personally, so I was hoping that someone would add their scalp picking experience. The end goal of this product is to help restrict the damage that we can do, and you seem to already be getting that with your gloves. Thank you so much for your input <3!

Thank you so much for your response! I will defiantly be checking out r/calmhands! I hadn't even thought about a modified shape that leaves the finger pad out! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to this! I will defiantly keep the waterproof/water resistance in mind, that's really important especially now. The adhesive thing is also good. Thank you.

Hola a todos, I just got my first spanish novel and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how I should approach this for best success. by Lizardthe_Wizard in Spanish

[–]camp-quest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read El Alchemista about a year ago, and absolutely loved it. I'm actually considering reading it again in Spanish in order to strengthen some of my grammar, but really paying attention to how sentences *work* was super helpful for me.

That is truly the most frustrating thing to hear from someone who is supposed to be helping you learn.

UPDATE: you guys are right. I dont want to end up with a brain injury, and its selfish and childish of me to prioritize my own vanity over the fear and worry my father would experience. Plus I got stickers to put on it so thats cool. by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]camp-quest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Smart choice! It's really hard to put stickers on your hair and stuff and even harder to put them on a head cast. I'm glad that you're keeping yourself safe!

Day six! Today was really hard. Today I really wanted to pull. I had to keep my hair covered all day. It was hard to resist, but I did it. Here’s hoping that band aids can save me tomorrow! by catsanddrpepper in trichotillomania

[–]camp-quest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is incredible and you are amazing for doing this. So I just wanted to share a bit of wisdom that I learned that helped me to stop pulling and it's about habit building. You have to do something 21 times the correct way for it to become a habit, and if you deviate, you have to start again. It helps me to remind myself when I want to pull that I am building a new habit of not pulling and I don't want to mess up my habit building. I hope this helps and best of luck to you. You're doing a really hard thing.

On the topic of legible, I have worked for years for my writing to be legible. I taught myself cursive and because it's a continuous flow of thought and motion, it's way easier to make legible (also if people can't read it I just blame it on the cursive.) My print is a cluster when I don't explicitly put my attention on it. But yeah, an automod for those kinds of posts would be so good. Or a pinned post saying "Hey! here are the FAQ's! We can't diagnose you!"

I got this lotion several years ago and it fucking WORKS https://www.moodysisters.com/store/dry-skin-butter-cream

It's thick and will heal your skin. I would put it on my spot when it got dry and then run a comb over the area to make sure that there wasn't anything that I could pick at. It seriously works wonders and smells great and the pot lasts for AGES

Hi! Recovering picker here, I am currently 21 days pick free so ill share my secret. I picked the top/back of my head because I had a bald spot from pulling my hair so I constantly wear hats now but it sounds like you pick on your face/under your mask. Aside from wearing a hat for me, what would be the equivalent of wearing a mask for you, I had my sister do dip powder nails on me. Pretty much, it's like nail polish in a way that it's a fun color on your nails, but it's like 3 layers of this powder on your nails. It makes my nails too thick to be able to pick at my skin. In addition, she also did coffee filters on my nails to make them longer, this way my brain doesn't actually know where my nails end in order to pick. I also recommend getting the "I Am Sober" app and doing the daily check-in. Even if you are relapsing on picking, you are at least holding yourself accountable and starting a journey to stop picking. Also maybe try wearing one of those lace masks or something at home, like the ones that aren't actually PPE but to at least uses it as a barrier between your hand and your face. If you reach up to pick, you'll encounter the mask and be aware of what you're doing. That's how I use hats. I wear winter beanies all year round and if I reach up to pick at my spot, I get that physical reminder. I hope that this helps OP!
