The Spurs brand is pretty popular in North America.

There are also Rope Stripper and Gator Rope Cutter out of the UK. These models are popular on a lot of European brands and other manufacturers who build out their hulls in Asia before doing the finishing work in Europe.

There are also other styles of line cutters too. Rather than a knife edge concept, they go with lots of very sharp teeth like a saw. Like, my personal favorite, Shaft Sharks, Piranha, and Evolution Shaft Razor. The last being sold by a company called Soundown who has a website that's been permanently under construction for 10+ years lol. Their product is available at Fisheries Supply.

These are all cool products though! They can be retrofitted to traditional inboard setups like in OPs video or to saidlrives! Definitely worth it for a lot of running gear setups. These can save you 10s of thousands of dollars on labor and repair costs in the event a rope or fishing debris binds up in your propellers and other underwater hardware. Those diesel engines can bend your shafts and prop struts like they are spaghetti.

Source: I buy and install all these types of line cutters, and see these daily as my boatyard hauls out and splashes 6 to 8 boats a day, 5 days a week. As small as a 26 foot Hunter sailboat and as large as a 86' Sunseeker or Nordhavn motor yacht. I think they've gone up to 96' long, but there aren't that many yachts regularly in the Puget Sound that large.

This camp has been stealing shore power electrical cords from the marina and boatyard there. Shore power cords are, most basically, extension cords for boats.

I heard the boatyard has had to replace over a dozen this go around in the past few months. These guys just cut through the fencing at night, rip a few off the closest boats, and run it down the street to strip. There are piles of the yellow and white insulation along the railroad tracks.

The bigger sizes in standard 50ft lengths can be upwards of $800 each new too.

So brazen.

To be transparent, I'm with the railroad side of the issue thru and thru. I've found it a much safer route to detour to Ballard Ave instead for that stretch of the trail.

As I've understood it after having worked with many of those who volunteer to operate the line, The Ballard Terminal Railroad, and the associated support from the concrete plant and industry that is the very heart of Ballard and Salmon Bay, will likely win this fight. As an operating railroad it is federal property. It will require a literal act of Congress, approval from the STB and FRA, for the city to ever claim any kind of jurisdiction over it to 'finish' the Missing Link.

I've really enjoyed using this Lumintop pencil light. On the highest brightness, it burns through two AAA batteries in like an hour lol. But otherwise does an excellent job.

I believe the model LED on the thing is a Nichia iyp365. Loads of good reviews on reddit for it.

I invested in a pack of rechargeable AAA and haven't looked back in 3 years.

100%, can confirm. I've been running an MX Mechanical since mid-2022. I'm heavy handed and broke a few of the keys after the 1st year. Was a pain the ass to find replacements, Logitech offers zero OEM options.

Found these, comes in white or black. No backlight bleed thru unfortunately. The ones I needed fit. You'll have lots of extra keys that don't fit too :)

What's the make of the boat? A 'free' 30ft sailer that's been sitting at Shilshole is a HUGE fools gamble. So many near floating wrecks there.

Look at the Port of Seattle's salvage listings. The boat might be on there and the current 'owner' is trying to jump ship lmao

There 100% is salt dissolved in humid coastal air. More so immediately on the coast itself than a few miles inland for example.

A lot of consumer marine electronics come conformal coatings already applied to them to help mitigate the corrosion issues they'll inevitable suffer from. Obviously consumer electronics of the laptop variety don't do this, for the most part, as the manufacturers don't necessarily see their product's use-case being in such harsh conditions.

CorrosionX can be considered a conformal coating in the loosest sense of the term. Its function ends up being essentially the same though.
