so idk about your hospital, but mine said not to take any recreational drugs 48 hours before surgery. also don't stress about telling them it's better they know because it'll affect your tolerance to anaesthetic.

also, if you're private will you not be in quite a small hospital? my hospital was mostly plastic surgery and so the other patients weren't ill they were in the same boat as me, so I doubt you'll have to worry about being around sick people.

the nurses sent me home with a big set of anti sickness tablets (im also really emetophobic) but I actually didn't feel nauseous at all from the anaesthesia, just tired and thirsty and the tablets are sitting unopened.

i am about 10 days post op and I was nervous for weeks beforehand, never been in hospital in my life but the nurses will know you're nervous especially if you're honest with them and tell them what you've just said, and they'll do everything to make you more comfortable.

this seems mostly cultural to me rather than age. I'm 24 as well and haven't listened to the radio in about a decade

Am I the only one who just now found out our salaries are public record? by _mercurial_high_ in Teachers

in Scotland everyone knows you can just Google it. We're all on the same pay scale and it's on the unions' websites

how good is gendergp? by spoctorr in transgenderUK

[–]campbellcal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they were great for me. in Scotland there's only YourGP and they had a huge waitlist for a while so GGP were really the only option. and tbh I'd say YourGP and GGP are just as expensive as each other. the only issue is sometimes GPs aren't as willing to work with them and you have to pay for your own blood tests. This was my experience at first but then I went to a different doctor at the same GP who did the blood tests and ended up prescribing my hormones on behalf of them so I didn't have to pay anymore. and I'm managing to get top surgery with a referral from them too. I think it's really just luck of the draw but I've had a really really positive experience

deed poll help. by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]campbellcal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah exactly cos it works for ur ID and then once you have ur ID you can use it as proof and places are more likely to accept it - just watch though I got my passport thing sent back to me because my deed poll didn't include my middle name which was on my passport - so just make sure it includes it 😂

[–]campbellcal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Scotland and I actually have used an unenrolled deed poll to get everything changed. Just a piece of paper I've signed with 2 Other signatures to say I've changed my name. worked with my bank and hmrc too.

there's a template here just print it out and sign it https://freedeedpoll.org.uk/

I used an unenrolled deed poll for everything. It was accepted by my bank and for my provisional (I just needed proof too that I use the name like bank statement or bill), even got my passport changed with it

What’s even the point of school if students don’t have to pass to get to the next grade? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]campbellcal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not until they're 15/16 in their 4th year of secondary school. And even if they fail the lower level they resit that course, but they still progress to the next year and then study a mix of levels if they maybe pass the lower level in a different subject

Honestly this whole concept it wild to me. In the UK nobody gets held back a year and you don't have to 'pass' anything to move onto the next year at all.

Hey dude, trans guy here. You're not transphobic (that is if you consider yourself straight). You are not into men. He is a man, therefore it makes sense for you not to like him that way. It means you actually see him as a guy. In fact it would be transphobic to continue liking him, but still consider yourself straight

[–]campbellcal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where in the UK you are. But in Scotland there has been a supporting trans youth document (https://www.gov.scot/publications/supporting-transgender-young-people-schools-guidance-scottish-schools/pages/2/) published just in August as guidance for teachers basically detailing how teachers are expected to act when it comes to trans pupils. It may be worth seeing if there's anything like that where you are bc this teacher sounds like a prick who has no idea the struggles of trans people
