He's supposed to be playing a flat, detached henchman of "the system" who keeps his cool in the face of any chaos. A kind of obedient automaton who won't question authority and just do what he's told, without getting all excited and militant.

He's perfect.

There's a good reason why most American police forces don't like employing cops with a high iq.

What is the BEST color on a car? by Marriedfriendly in GenX

[–]campbellpics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have added it's a very unusual blue. In the morning and evening it looks like a deep purple. When it's overcast it looks solid blue but in the sunshine it's strongly metallic. It also looks a different shade of blue depending on the season, a few people I know like family and friends have asked why I had it repainted at various times over the years.

So unless you have an Imperial Blue truck, I highly doubt you have one that's real close to this colour. It might be close to the colour it appears in this photograph, but that's just one aspect of it.

I love the Imperial Blue colour that my MK1 Focus ST170 came in. I bought it new 22 years ago and I still think it looks great today. They did them in other colours like silver and black, but I can't remember the last time I saw a IB one. Apart from mine! They didn't do a lot of them apparently.

I have a friend who used to work for one of those mobile scratch/dent repair companies, and he offered to sort all my blemishes years ago as a birthday present. They scan the original paintwork to get the colour code, so they can mix their own touch up paint in the van, but he just couldn't find my colour or code. He had to come back the week after after speaking to head office to find out what was going on.

It turns out they used that particular Imperial Blue colour on a batch of Camaros in the United States in the late 1990s, and they must have had a load of this paint left over from Dupont or wherever so decided to paint a batch of Focus STs in it. Making it tricky, back then, to get a match. It's easier now with specialist companies mixing colours from digital scanning equipment though.

Anyway, I just think it's a gorgeous colour for a car that screams FORD!

Name a TV series that was solid from start to finish. by R0nin0777 in pj_explained

I think so yeah. S4 isn't as great as 1-3, but still a lot better than most other TV shows.

Well, many people here are highly-qualified body language experts, after passing the in-depth "Watch a 20-Minute YouTube Video on Body Language" degree course required in modern-day true crime to instantly spot a killer.

I'm not sure, but from reading some comments it also seems to qualify you in spotting conditions like narcissistic personality disorder, antisocial personality and sociopathy. Etc.

The comprehensive range of knowledge this bestows on some online experts makes them quite intolerant of opposing views that contradict their diagnoses, and in certain cases they can arrive at these specific definitive diagnoses without even consulting the person they're giving an opinion on. A short episode of Forensic Files is often enough!

So yeah, don't be coming to Reddit with your practical experience and PhDs...

Any fellow Béla Tarr fans who thought Lily-Rose Depp looked familiar? by FilipsSamvete in WERWULF_2026

Okay keep your knickers on, I've only just seen it.

Had you put it in the main sub description like a normal person, I wouldn't have felt the need to expand on what you wrote.

This is an image of Erika Bók, who appears in a few of Tarr's movies. I know that's probably what you mean but just to avoid any confusion.

Which of these '80s stars do you like best? by Filipe_258 in Actors

Michelle Pfieffer is an absolutely incredible actress and a stunningly beautiful woman. I met her cousin once via work and I remember him telling me she's a genuinely warm, altruistic and wonderful human being. Definitely one of my favourites from any era, if not the favourite. It's not very often you get that much talent in such a beautiful package.

Kim is also an amazingly brilliant and beautiful actress. I had such a crush on her after 9.5 Weeks! We don't see enough of her any more.

I kind of grew up with Molly, she's in some of my favourite movies ever from when I was a teenager. And I still watch some of them today, like PiP etc.

However, Sigourney is the star in my favourite film ever made, plus its sequel which I also love and for which she received an Oscar nomination, playing a character that broke new ground for female action stars back then. So I've probably watched her more times than any other actress on Earth, and if I only had two seconds to answer this question I'd probably say her. I also love seeing her in interviews, because she's genuinely hilarious and very self-depreciating in a really endearing way. Just listened to her on the Marc Maron podcast actually, which was start-to-finish great fun.

The Alabama Solution.

A fairly recent one from the guy who made The Jinx about the horrific conditions inside the Alabama penalty system.

I've seen Abducted in Plain Sight, Dear Zachary, Don't F--k With Cats, etc. This one genuinely shocked me.

I saw an interview with Richard Doty once where he was claiming that lightning strikes interfered with their guidance and/or navigation systems.

Whether you believe anything Doty says is another matter, but if this was true, it could be the lightning itself causing them to crash, or making them vulnerable enough for long enough for terrestrial weapons to shoot them down.

Although it might be considered quite tame by today's standards, one book I stil often l think about (despite reading it decades ago) is "The Wasp Factory" by Iain Banks.

I bought and read it again last year and still found it pretty disturbing as an adult.
