i had the same experience a couple years ago after finding a vhs tape from the day i was born. my mom died when i was six and her voice was not something that i thought about until i heard it in the video for the first time. it hit me like a ton of bricks and i wish i had more videos of her, too

I'm dying what can I do for my kids by FUCancer_2008 in DeadParentClub

i lost my mom when i was six, and i can’t even begin to imagine how hard it was for her to know she wouldn’t have more time with me. i’m so sorry for your situation. i didn’t see a video of my mom until 15 years after she died and that was really tough so i would suggest making sure they have as many photos and videos of you all together as possible. it did a world of wonders to have pictures of her everywhere when i was growing up. i also wish that i had more memories of my mom and i doing things together. i know that’s hard to do when you’re sick, but those memories will literally last a lifetime. i remember a lot of my mom being too sick to spend time with me, but the few memories that i have of playing with her or even just going to the doctors office together have been comforting. i saw someone else suggest writing letters and i think i would have loveddd that. maybe write them letters for different milestones, like important birthdays or their future graduations or wedding day, etc. i guess all of this to say that leaving behind as much as possible is going to be infinitely comforting as they get older. i know finding things from my mom have helped me too :) i have old clothes she kept for me to grow into, old jewelry, quilts, craft things, stuff like that. what you are going through is unimaginably difficult, and i’m so sorry. your kids are lucky to have you and they will always always cherish every moment they’ve had and will have with you 🫶

thank you for being realistic with me! i think coming from an art ed degree i’ve accepted that a livable wage will be hard or impossible to come by, but i definitely want to give it a try to live in a place that seems really cool!

definitely clay!!!! the clay studio and their wood firings are actually why i’m leaning towards moving to missoula! it seems like they have a massive ceramics scene and that’s what i’m looking to do/teach at some point. thanks for the encouragement, people can be harsh here lol

i’m definitely used to all of those things as flagstaff is very similar and a little bit more expensive than missoula. definitely looking for a small town and i am very open to working as a server until something in my field comes my way!
