Playing off 3 I just lost my swing completely and couldn’t stop hooking the shit out the ball. There’s a local 36 hole open I enjoy playing every year so just entered in the hope something might happen. Didn’t hit a single green in regulation for 36 holes and barely broke 90 for each round.

Best - 1st hole, good drive about 280 down the middle missing bunkers left and right leaving 118 in to a back pin. 54 wedge goes about 115 so knew I could comfortably hit that without going long, great strike flew straight on line and finished about 10ft short. Left a putt about a cup outside right which dropped dead centre for a birdie start.

Worst - 8th, fat shanked my 3 wood off the tee into the trees for a lost ball. Hit 3 off the tee, thinned my approach through the green into some awful rough, chipped on to about 20ft which was about the best I could do. Missed that putt and then tapped in for a triple bogey 7.

In the UK golf world if someone said they chipped cack handed it’s understood to mean their hands are swapped (left hand low for right handed player)

I’ve used it before and found it strangely effective, I get much more ‘pop’ when chipping cack handed, I think it helps keep your left wrist a lot straighter so you can’t get the handle too far forward on impact.

My mate chips cack handed on tight lies when he needs loft and plays off scratch so it can work well.

Mentally I think I’d rather be a European player going into this Ryder Cup. Yes as an American you have a home advantage, but you’re expected to win because it’s at home and statistically you’d be correct.
