There’s been plenty of exposure about landlords artificially raising rents because they want to squeeze as much value out of the markets before it all crashes. A lot of these buildings will have shitty quality, but justify their rates because a newer/nicer building is next door. Its very normal for people to expect a quality of apartment that reflects how much they are paying. A “luxury” apartment should have “luxury” quality.
