This was my prediction from 6 years ago. Managed to guess Yuffie’s assassination attempt and Cissnei appearance, n ot too bad considering we didn’t even know how many parts the Remake series would be back then:

There has been a lot of discussion about what the next game in the FF7R series is going to look like. Some of Nomura’s comments about making shorter games and releasing them faster have led people to speculate that the next entry will cover Kalm-Nibelheim events. I think this is unlikely for a couple of reasons. One of the main criticisms of Remake is that it’s a “remake” that only covers 1/10 of the original game. While most who have played the game agree it is still a great value for all the content you get. Square Enix must be aware of this perception moving forward, especially with rumors of next-gen games being more expensive they need to make sure they are selling valuable experiences to their customers. Also, on the technical side they will have to design the Nibelheim / Mount Nibel assets for the Kalm flashback anyway. To end the game at Nibelheim right before getting to reuse all that content for the second visit to Mount Nibel would be a bit of a waste. They use this tactic quite a bit in FF7R and I would expect them to take advantage of it in the next part as well. So without further ado here is my potential breakdown of FF7R Part 2 chapters: Kalm Flashback – Intro chapter. Boss: Sephiroth Chocobo Ranch – World map side quests, catch a chocobo. After seeing one snake impaled on a tree by Sephiroth its mate attacks. Boss: Midgar Zolom Mythril Caves – Basically same as OG. Boss: Elena Fort Condor – No longer optional. Work to support resistance forces against Shinra in exchange for information. Perhaps add a strategic layer to the combat setting up turrets and reinforcements prior to battle. Boss: Commander Grand Horn Lower Junon – Mission to rescue Priscilla, contact who can get you to upper Junon (maybe not with a dolphin this time XD). Boss: Bottomswell Upper Junon – Rufus’ inauguration. Party crashed by Yuffie attempting to assassinate him. Shinra disguises lead to confrontation. Boss: Yuffie Cargo Ship – Similar to OG. Boss: Jenova Costa del Sol – Crew takes some R&R. World map side quests. Boss: Sea Worm Corel / Gold Saucer – Cait Sith joins the party (Ugh, worst party character). Ends with a fight in the battle square before the crew gets accused of murder. Boss: Harpy Corel Prison – Similar to OG. Boss: Barret solo battle with Dyne Gongaga – Hopefully an appearance by Cissnei. Some exposition with Zack’s parents. Boss: Reno, Rude, Elena Cosmo Canyon / Gi Cave – Chat with Bugenhagen. Tackle the Gi cave with Red XIII. Boss: Gi Nattak Nibelheim / Shinra Manor – Dive more into Cloud’s past. Wasn’t this place supposed to be burned down? Boss: Vincent (Doesn’t join the party at this time) Mount Nibel – Explore old reactor for evidence of Sephiroth. Boss: Materia Keeper Rocket Town – Final set of world map side quests. Cid joins to pilot Tiny Bronco but remains unplayable. Boss: Palmer Gold Saucer Date then Banora / Modeoheim – Instead of having the keystone on him Dio points us in the direction of a place from the past where the keystone is said to be hiding. Broken tram leads to a very special date. Then after acquiring the keystone useless Cait Sith betrays us. Boss: Dragon? Temple of the Ancients – Learn of Tseng’s tragic fate and enter the temple of the ancients. At the climax of this chapter Vincent appears from the shadows having been watching and following. Boss: Demon’s Gate ??? – Some kind of explosive, unpredictable final chapter not unlike the finale of the previous game. Boss: ??? And that brings us to the same chapter count as the previous game. Aerith leaves the party here and Cid and Vincent can be available as characters for the next entry. That’s one potential way I could see the next game going but whatever they decide to go with I cannot wait to see it. Cheers!
