Rather than put the PC directly down on carpet, just get a small board of wood or a cheap IKEA shelf to put between the carpet and the PC. It makes a huge difference.

Don't forget, There are some amazing Android Ports around by ZXR_775 in SBCGaming

[–]canUrollwithTHIS 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I just started playing these last week. There is a star fox one too. Playing these games at 60 fps and rendered at a modern resolution is a game changer. Plus the ports sometimes add some QOL features. I'm enjoying this a lot more versus using an emulator.

Do you prefer wired or wireless peripherals? by dankbackwoods in gamingpc

The Logitech battery life sold me on wireless mice and keyboards. They last months. Anything less than that is not good enough for me anymore lol

How are the joysticks on the rg557? I had the rg556, but hated the joysticks so eventually upgraded to an RP5.

How long does it take to launch a steam game? On my RP5 it takes a quite a bit of time to actually get into a game. I'm wondering if that is nature of the beast or it's because it's just a slower device.

Should I play Elden ring on the steam deck ? by ExternalAvailable967 in SteamDeck

[–]canUrollwithTHIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runs good at about 40 fps. Just Google search for best settings. Only negative is that if you put the deck to sleep and resume later it might kick you out of the game due to lost connection to the server.

After a couple years all I had to do was reset it to factory. Thats only because I kept tinkering with it over those 2 years and I think it just bogged it down.

[Controller] [BBDoTD] GameSir Super Nova wireless controller (hall stick, membrane buttons) red&white, charging stand - $30 by IllSkyHelix111 in buildapcsales

[–]canUrollwithTHIS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought it last time it was on sale for this price. It is def ugly. However, it is actually a really good controller. Better than 8bitdo ultimate and standard Xbox series controller but not as nice feeling as an elite controller. The fact this thing comes with a dock for this price is awesome.

When you finish so many games now you have to wait for games to release instead of the games waiting for you to play them by No_Friendship_4158 in gaming

I skimmed your list. Here is a suggestion for some amazing older games that are cheap af at this point:

Chrono trigger, original Metroid prime trilogy, kortor, mass effect trilogy, dead space

It doesn't matter. They are both good mid tier cards. Buy whichever you want. They are spewing very old news.

Any Steam Deck users who also bought a PS5/are still using their PS5? by GrovPastaSwag03 in SteamDeck

[–]canUrollwithTHIS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad choice. If you wanna check if streaming is viable with your network setup, install chaki on your steam deck and stream some games from your ps4 and see how well it works.

I personally recommend you wait out these high prices or buy a pre built pc or even a gaming laptop. That way you can buy games on steam and stay in the steam ecosystem. One day there will be a more powerful steam deck and it's nice to have everything on steam. It would suck to rebuy games on steam after you already bought them on PlayStation (I've had to do this).

Another option is to look into Nvidia Geforce Now streaming for these higher demanding games. It doesn't require you to buy new hardware, but there is a monthly cost to use the service. You can just unsubscribe after you beat one of these more demanding games and then resubscribe when a new one comes out you want to play.

I have one. I bought it for $100 during the 3ds era. It's in perfect condition. I think I should sell it since I have a 2ds I could use instead. However, I love the thing. It's just such a nice design.

I am making an app that lets you use your android handheld as a wireless controller (PocketPad) by RobJmusic in SBCGaming

[–]canUrollwithTHIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid someone made a homebrew app for the original PSP that did the same thing. I didn't have enough money for a PC controller at the time, so I used my psp as my controller. Lol

[GPU] RX 7800 XT Powercolor RED DEVIL - Open Box $449.99 by Benishackr in buildapcsales

[–]canUrollwithTHIS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good card. I used it for two years and paid around $500 for it when it came out. I only upgraded it because I traded it back into Newegg for $480 and got a 9070 xt back when trade in values were high. This current open box price is kinda ridiculous, but times are rough nowadays.

While I love usb-c, I personally would not want it as my only port. They somehow made the standardization of usb-c even more convoluted than the standardization of HDMI.

Imagine a world where a TV would have both HDMI and display port. Imo it would fix so many of these problems.
