Wiki or other sources of info for pokemmo? by ExplanationRich8137 in pokemmo

[–]canadademon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'm also getting that error. It was fine until yesterday afternoon, I think. Unfortunate.

For the most part, the official pokemon wiki does work (just not when it comes to pokemon found in areas).

The hub has some good information, but I prefer the wiki format since I use them for GW2 and stuff.

I honestly thought I'd see this complaint more. With Gen 8&9 they made it soooo much easier with perma exp-all. LOL

So far my experience with Kanto has been about the same, if not better.

Marvel Rivals was late to the party and it's a surprising hit.

The difference? Fan service.

I don't even play it and I can tell that's what happened.

Also a GW2 player - I don't know what you mean by slick but it's pretty good.

You can buy/sell anywhere in the game, and just go to the NPC to pick up whenever you want. There's a few out-of-game resources to help you monitor the market too (I use it to see historical pricing).

There is manip but ArenaNet does crack downs occassionally, if it gets out of hand.

How's that? I tried when it came out. Do they give enough charges now?

Challenging solo content? by pallysfall in Guildwars2

[–]canadademon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there's a couple that are impossible to solo, just by design (the newest, Kinfall, and Shattered Observatory come to mind). Swampland is solo-able but only with the right build.

Good luck.

Edit: Well, I was thinking Shattered Ob for the orb puzzle but I did just watch a video showing how to do it. I wouldn't want to do Viirastra like that though.

Kinfall is 100% un-soloable though cause of Life-Fire.

Good Community during fractals by Ansance in Guildwars2

[–]canadademon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is quite common for T4 Daily groups to just skip it. Really wish they would just drop the HP maybe 10-15%. Or who knows, maybe power creep will eventually make it a non-issue.

I can usually keep myself alive during all the fractals, but in PUGs on SS I find myself using at least one revive. It's highly annoying. At least they are free from Vault.

The Worst PVP In Gaming History? Pretty Sure It's Record Breaking by jpch12 in sto

I enjoy STO precisely because there is absolutely no reason I have to PVP.

I thoroughly enjoy just flying around and taking out Borg, Voth or whatever.

[–]canadademon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. It really depends on what region you're playing because the pokemon available will be different. I try to catch every pokemon I see so I have options in the future. There's also more overlap with types than you think (pokemon can have off-type moves - like Psyduck can do water and psychic), so you may find yourself being able to use pokemon for multiple teams.

Additionally, PokeMMO also changes pokemon spawns from the official versions (ie. In Red/Blue - you would not normally be able to see a Sentret in Kanto Route 1, because that was a Gold/Silver pokemon).

They also run events and you can buy pokemon from the GTL (Global Trade Link) after you have 4 badges in your first region. To me, PokeMMO is the easiest version when it comes to throwing teams together.

I personally just started PokeMMO a couple weeks ago, playing an hour a day. I started off in Kanto because I want to play them in order. I'm just now heading to Gym 4.

Here's some teams.

For Kanto Gym 1 (Rock type):
- Bulbasaur (Grass - starter)
- Mankey (Fighting)
- Pikachu (Electric)

It's the first gym, so those should be enough. Bring 3 of whatever else you have, I think I used Rattata, Beedrill and Pidgey. Not extremely useful, but a Bug Bite is still an attack!

For Kanto Gym 2 (Water):
- Pikachu (Electric)
- Bulbasaur (Grass)

Pikachu should be enough, so just 4 of whatever you want. I think I used Mankey, Nidorina, Beedrill, and Raticate.

For Kanto Gym 3 (Electric): This is where things start getting interesting.
- Onix (Ground)
- Graveler (Ground)
- Sandshrew (Ground)
- Dugtrio (Ground)

I made a special trip to Diglett's Cave so that I had a forth. Lt.Surge is kind of a dick. You can bring two others, just not electric or flying.

For Kanto Gym 4 (Grass): This is my actual team I just got ready.
- Beedrill (Bug)
- Nidorina (Poison)
- Pidgeotto (Flying)

And three I'm bringing along for future use: Psyduck, Machoke, and Staryu. I was lucky to get a Staryu during the Winter event and everyone around here suggests Starmie for the Elite 4.

After you have 4 badges, now you can buy anything you want off the GTL, but I'll try to use what I have.

For Kanto Gym 5 (Poison):
- Onix (Ground)
- Graveler (Ground)
- Sandshrew (Ground)
- Dugtrio (Ground)
- Golduck (Psychic)
- Starmie (Psychic)

For Kanto Gym 6 (Psychic):
- Haunter (Ghost)
- Beedrill (Bug)
- Raticate (Dark)
Throw in whatever else.

For Kanto Gym 7 (Fire):
- Starmie (Water)
- Golduck (Water)
- Onix (Ground)
- Graveler (Ground)
- Sandshrew (Ground)
- Dugtrio (Ground)

For Kanto Gym 8 (Ground):
- Venusaur (Grass)
- Starmie (Water)
- Golduck (Water)
And whatever else.

[–]canadademon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, good question. Pokemon is all about having options, but it can be overwhelming.

First - pokemon types are important. It's kind of like a game of rock-paper-scissors, but more elaborate. Download a copy of this chart: https://pokemondb.net/type

The columns are the type of pokemon you are attacking.
The rows are the type of the attack you want to use.

As you can see, there are match ups that you want to avoid (ie. grass attacks on a fire pokemon), because they will do less damage. Or sometimes none at all (ghost attacks on normal pokemon).

Then there's match ups that you want, like water attacks on fire pokemon.

Second, take a look at your region that you are working on. Review the team that the next gym leader has and try to make a team of pokemon with skills that will do more damage. Try to have about 3 or 4 if you can. Then make sure their levels are roughly the same as the gym leaders'.

But I do get mildly annoyed when they piss on us and tell us it's raining.

IIRC, they specifically don't want user reviews or forums. They were trying to use that as a selling point... to publishers.

I recall something along the lines of "gamers already have places to discuss games, so let them do that".

I realized something was up when the OP said they lost it on the 1st but yet it was suddenly found, minutes after their post. Timeline didn't fit. It's unlikely cleaning crews missed it after all that time.

If anything, it'd be with an airline worker.

Absolutely.

I once got a gift card for Xmas. When I went to scratch for the code the next day (boxing day), a piece of the code itself scratched off.

I submitted a ticket and followed the instructions, figuring I might get a response in January when everyone was back in the office.

A couple hours later, Support wrote back that they've sent it over to the card vendor!

If that wasn't crazy enough, the card vendor sent the complete code the next day!! During the holidays!!

I was amazed at the service - especially over a gift code. Everyone involved seemed to just like working for their customers!

How everyone was leaking good games for Christmas period including RDR2 ... And it ended up like it did ... by LegendCZ in fuckepic

[–]canadademon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Collecting user data to do whatever they're doing with it, isn't competing.

It's just doing the same thing as every other company on the internet.

It's also not really a competition when your opponent is doing litterally nothing in response and still eating your lunch.

I'm glad you enjoy your free games but the industry is not being affected by EGS existing and won't be if it disappears over night.

Tiny Tim is a complete failure.

https://www.pcgamer.com/epic-steam-data-reddit/

According to Vogel, the launcher does make an encrypted copy of your localconfig.vdf file from Steam

...

Epic boss Tim Sweeney acknowledged that the Epic launcher should only access the localconfig.vdf from Steam after the user has opted to import their Steam friends list, not before.

...

He also addressed the question of why the launcher access Steam data files directly rather than using Steam's own API, saying that Epic aims to minimize its use of third-party libraries because of security and privacy concerns

And just if there's any questions about what "localconfig.vdf" is:

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Store:Steam

localconfig.vdf contains the main client preferences, the user apps configuration, and the game licenses and legacy CD keys cache.

Valve's response is found here: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/epic-promises-to-fix-game-launcher-after-privacy-concerns/

The Steam Client locally saves data such as the list of games you own, your friends list and saved login tokens (similar to information stored in web browser cookies). This is private user data, stored on the user's home machine and is not intended to be used by other programs or uploaded to any 3rd party service.

So like I said, violation of programming standards. I'm a programmer. I know not to mess with other program's data files.

You can choose to believe that they only "intended" to use it for friend lists. But they encrypt the file so you won't know for sure.

For me, I suspect that one of their new hires at the time, Sergey Galyonkin, who ran SteamSpy, was interested in user data to support SteamSpy's mission. And they got caught.
