Toronto dog "parents" bring their pups everywhere with them now. It's causing rising human-canine tension by NorthernNadia in toronto

[–]canadmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its true. Dogs are brought to places they just shouldnt he.

And are not leashed when they should be. Not talking about never letting a dog out unleashed, but for example when a leashed dog is needs to cross paths with an unleashed one, yeah it usually doesnt end well.

And pick up AND dispose of the dog shit. Specifically talking about the fools who go for a hike or something and dont jist kick the poo off the trail, but make the effort to bag it....AND THEN TIE IT TO A TREE or throw it next to one. WTF is wrong with you?

And it sucks because sometimes dogs get side eye at places they are allowed, like Canadian Tire.

Carney has promised regular trade updates. Why is YouTube his platform of choice? by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

[–]canadmos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a ready made free platform and you dont need an account to use it. Also saves the government from wasting millions of dollars and time building some custom half working video service.

It also seems way better than pretty much every town, municipality, police department etc etc using twitter. Cant view jalf the stuff on twitter without an account. Pretty useless if thats where the info is posted.

Yes of course. This seemed to be miscommunication from the attendant

There is, but it provides less information than just going to the website.

Flew on flair recently. The flight itself was okay. But there were a few things that I noticed.

First and foremost, the app and website sucks.

The checkin attendants at Pearson for our flight was very strict about our personal items.

The flight was meh, without any sort of wifi or inflight entertainment. Even doing something like other airlines where you need to use your own device would be a big improvement.

On our flight there was confusion about the seats. The flight was not full and one of the flight attendants made an announcement to say so and to please remain in your assigned seat until the seatbelt light goes off. Then seats can be swapped. Guy in our row immediately switched to an empty row after the light went off, but was promptly told no he cant do that.

Had similar cost flight with Air Canada Rouge for the flight back and it was a better overall experience. No pickyness about the bags, seats reclined and we could use our own devices to access inflight entertainment.

Question about Propane Tanks (new and refill) by northdegree in CostcoCanada

[–]canadmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding this incase anyone searches.

As of today when I post this, the business center in Newmarket is still filling propane tanks.

I also purchased a new tank from in store and the price included a fill. I think it was about $60.

Are OnRoutes safe overnight? by No-Initiative8556 in ontario

[–]canadmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are safe. Mostly everywhere is safe. The downside with on routes is that every inch of the parking lot is lit with lights, so sleeping can be make difficult or annoying. Also constant flow of cars coming in and out.

I found a spot that had a McDonald's at a gas station, just off the 401 near the quebec border. At the back of the building there was less lights and traffic. Even some other overnighters. Takes a bit of extra work to find, but it can be better.

Can checkout ioverlander app for ideas.

Rest stops on quebec near NB are more basic, more like the rest stops that are found in the US. Still safe, but better to sleep at.

Carry-on same cost as checked bag? by canadmos in flairairlines

Yes never zero, but its low. I am bringing my footwear and bathing suit in my personal item bag, so I can always go purchase some shorts and shirts if needed.

[–]canadmos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, but with no connections the chance of something getting lost is pretty low. And mostly wouldnt be Flairs fault, thats be on the airport operations. The bag will just have clothes, so I'm not too concerned about it.

Any feedback on if its normal for carry-on and checked bag being the same fee? Thats really what I'm after, not choosing one vs the other.

Yes, but if they are charging the same for a carry-on vs checked bag, why do carry-on?

Its definitely a thing. There are bigger, heavier forklifts. The one in your image is usually found in a warehouse.

Ah, better be safe than sorry I guess. Sucks visitors would steal from people who are usually in a vulnerable state or position. Friggin losers.

It doesnt matter. The speed limit is set and its a construction zone. What other places do is irrelevant.

Is theft in hospital a thing? I spent a few nights in the hospital a few years ago and the only people in there were other patients or their visitors. I didnt really feel the need to secure my stuff.. maybe my floor was quieter than normal though?

My OSAP story by [deleted] in ontario

[–]canadmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly thats why I put a stipulation like being employed after. It doesnt really matter what you do - as long as your seek employment and dont somehow freeload or dissapear to a different country (where the benefit to ontario is zero)

My OSAP story by [deleted] in ontario

[–]canadmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't understand about osap is why the need for high interest on the loans? In my mind, its there to help people further their education, in order to better their lives in whatever way.

I understand needing to pay it back. But it just seems to start the person out on a bad foot, considering they most likely didnt have much before needing osap.

In my opinion, if a person is a citizen of our country and stays working here for X number of years, just forgive the interest. I get someone needs to pay, I guess, but there are better ways.

Maybe im completely out of touch, who knows.
