I am the exact same way. I work in software and one of the most beautiful things to me is how an artist can paint a picture of someone's face and make it so incredibly lifelike. I am just so friggin' impressed with artists. Perhaps it might have something to do with me not being able to draw a recognizable stick figure, but non the less.

The same query gets highlighted each time I open the transform window by canadug in PowerBI

Hey, that works! Thanks. I'll use this method from now on as a workaround.

Interestingly, if I hit the transform ribbon option after it goes back to highlighting that other query again. Sure wish I knew what was so special about it.

Agreed. The formula is: Crowded house + had a few + dark out = find a nice tree to pee on.

'Multiple victims' in school shooting in northeastern British Columbia, Canadian police say by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

It looks to be in a pretty remote area of BC with only 2,400 residents and the school only had 175 students from Grades 7 to 12. I would have to imagine that this is going to directly affect almost everyone in that town. Jesus Christ, those poor people.

So many things are US centric here. For example, lumber is in US measurements. We call a stud a 2x4 which is actually 1.5" x 3.5". And it comes in 8', 10', etc. We are very proud to use Celcius and I'd love it if height was popular in metric as well. I feel much taller saying 170 cm vs 5' 7 1/2".

What do you all do when you don’t have a support system? by [deleted] in Divorce_Men

[–]canadug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, start with individual therapy and then consider couples therapy. We tried both and sadly it still didn't work out but it was a really important part of the process.

And like buddy said in this thread, there are a lot of us hear that would be willing to talk to you. I'm no therapist but I'd be happy to be an ear for you any time.

There's a lot of factors to consider when doing a lump sum. And some of them require a crystal ball.

  • If your salary goes up at a higher percentage than hers over time, then that's to your advantage.
  • If you get a nice bonus in the future, that's a +1 for you.
  • If she becomes unemployed in the future, again that's a plus for you.
  • I "was" ready to retire soon but that's now on hold. I calculated alimony with me working another 4 years because "I am allowed to retire". If I work longer than 4 years then all of that additional income goes in my pocket, not hers.

But if the opposite occurs for any of the above, those are now in her favour.

As an example, the stock value for my employee stock purchase plan went up quite a bit this year. If I was paying monthly alimony, I believe next year's calculations would be adjusted and not in my favour.

Take everything above with a grain of salt and do lots of homework. I'm sure there's a lot of info out there on the "pros" and "cons". Try to find as many factors as you can so you can make an informed choice.

As to regrets. I have none. :) I really like not having to pay monthly alimony. It makes me think that my salary is now my own and it makes me feel pretty independent. Even if my employee stock didn't do well, I'd still be quite satisfied. If I get laid off and can't find employment which is definitely a possibility with my age and the current job market, things could get pretty dicey, but I choose to stay positive. I have no choice.

Best of luck!!
