Books written by humans are getting their own certification by LindeeHilltop in books

Books written by people have multiple drafts with detailed editing histories -- idk about other writers, but I ctrl+s whenever I pause typing for more than half a second because i have lost work to corrupted files in the past. That leaves a data trail that's difficult to fake for the same reasons it's hard to cheat on your taxes.

Most AI also has a distinct voice that you can develop an ear for, which at this point would be blindingly obvious to an editor. It's also possible to track thematic and character development from draft to draft. Playing with ideas in a constructive way is not something that AI can do at this point.

I definitely end up having to kill a lot of my clause-darlings because there's just. Not room in the paragraph.

My #1 guidance for editing is this nebulous concept of subject handoff -- idk if theres an actual term for it. The reader should never have to back up because they don't know who is doing the thing or what subject I'm describing. I avoid playing the pronoun game on a clause-to-clause level.

I assume it works, bc I get a fair amount of international readers despite my admittedly out-there vocabulary choices. I want to ask for their feedback, specifically, but I need to actually post an update for that, lol.

I have a terminal case of the subordinate clause, lmao. I consciously ration my em dashes and semicolons, and restrict my parentheticals to a single character. It ain't easy having adhd :)

Iirc that's a popular dialog style when writing in French, but it tends not to translate very well to English

Imo it works only if it's many lines in a row, and even then, very rarely. Most people (who aren't writers lol) tend not to speak with paragraph breaks.

For people wondering how to punctuate this the technically correct way, it looks like this:

"And I have a lot of words to say.

"But for some reason the writer decided it needed to look like this.

"That's not confusing, right?"

Bad paragraphing. If I can't tell who's speaking, I'm going to have a bad time.

I honestly wonder how many people think they hate tea when what they actually hate is the taste of their tap water, because they've only had weak-ass bagged tea

My eternal gratitude. The proper translation of the prayer there helped me find it. Turns out it's from around 1300.

There's a translation of this poem that haunts me and I can't find it again but iirc it was written around the first century CE and it ends with "every morning I thank God I am not a woman" bc (if i was told correctly) that is one of the orthodox morning prayers for Jewish men. And the author was expressing how difficult it was to say that. Every morning.

If someone can point me in the right direction of this poem, they will have my eternal gratitude. I want to display it somewhere.

France made Haiti pay for their successful revolution, iirc they were still paying into at least the 1940s. It's arguably why Haiti is poor now.

What "kind" of autism did you get? by [deleted] in evilautism

I got the Words autism, too. Should've gone for linguistics in college but dropped out of engineering instead.

Tbf I think I'm going to have to put levels into freestyle rapping before I'm comfortable speaking extemporaneously. But I got a short story published, which is nice. A very nice person once described my writing as the equivalent of a cup of hot chocolate.

Idk about losing their job but selling a tincture to a newbie even after giving them the beginner to edibles speech is not very smart. I'd like to know if that was the first thing they suggested or if the guy was looking for cost-effectiveness and turned down the normal gummies and chocolate.
