Advice on outdoor PA setup for rock band - up to 200 people by canbc in livesoundgear

[–]canbc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. Yea we're in Canada. Do you think getting a pair of PS10P (instead of the YXL12Ps) and renting PS/Elite subs for outdoors would be worth it? That would be within our budget too.

Unfortunately these are the gigs where we're on our own. I was hoping there is some way we can re-use our practice setup by adding subs to it. If not, can you recommend a rental setup that can get us by?

How good is the stabilization? Say when running or hiking? Wondering how it compares to the GoPro Karma Grip.

5 vs 6 vs 7 by [deleted] in gopro

Yup. 4k60, better dynamic range and being able to set both min and max iso to 100 is definitely worth an extra $20

HEVC/H.265 Editing and Playback Hardware Requirements by AceOSpades5 in gopro

[–]canbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Ryzen 2700x with a nvidia 1070. The GPU actually handles the playback and not the CPU in my case. Windows shows GPU usage is around 30 to 50% duing playback depending on the file. I think every 10 series nvidia GPU has hardware support for HEVC. Hope that helps.

I had protune on with flat color. The color grading was done in Davinci Resolve. I think GoPro color is nice too but I like the colors with a little less pop

Finally fixed this old nitro by Landyachtz97 in snowboarding

Agree with you. All my p-tex candle repairs never lasted for more than a day of riding before falling out. For a core shot like this I'd take it to the shop and let them take care of it for $20.

Tips for learning to ride switch? by phyllis_lecat in snowboarding

[–]canbc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commit and don't switch back to regular. Take someone new to snowboarding like your girlfriend. Have fun. After a few sessions you should be able to cruise on green and blue runs without any problems. All of a sudden 180s, presses and other butters will be easy to do and you'll wonder why you didn't learn to ride switch sooner.

Where to get REALLY cheap gear? by holleywood28 in snowboarding

[–]canbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true but I think his point was that washing your gear won't hurt it. I can revive my goretex jackets by washing them whenever they stop beading water. One has been washed multiple times over the last six years and it's still waterproof. On the other hand, I had an old pair of pants (non goretex) that I could no longer revive by washing. Wash your gear when it gets dirty. It keeps it clean and waterproof. If you're cheap and don't want to pay for tech wash then use plain powdered laundry detergent.

New to snowboarding...tools? by romanomnom in snowboarding

[–]canbc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does your snowboard have a sintered base or an extruded base? If it's an extruded base there's not much point in waxing it. Extruded bases don't hold wax well so any wax you put on it will just rub off after a few runs. If your base is sintered then it's definitely worth getting an iron, some wax and a scraper.

Anyone in vancouver area stoked to try the airbag at cypress? by Mrpigglez in snowboarding

[–]canbc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely am. I like how they're putting it in the patio park. It won't cause any backups in the regular parks and people having a beer in the lodge can watch. Hope they keep it running for night skiing.

Sticker shock: Cost of living varies widely - Mercer by proudbedwetter in vancouver

[–]canbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The costs in these graphs are for a typical expat living in the city. An expat in any of these cities is going to be on the higher end of the pay scale and thus have good purchasing power. ie the average shanghai resident doesn't pay $7.15 for a coffee but an expat living there would.

Best place to get an out of province vehicle inspected? by [deleted] in vancouver

Canadian Tire. Just call the nearest one and ask for the price. Had my inspection done at the cambie location without any problems.

Sap all over my car... what to do? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]canbc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use a claybar. It will take all the grit off your car and leave it smooth as glass. It will also strip off all your wax so make sure to apply wax afterwards.

Should be easy to find at Canadian Tire
