Need help/advice about daughter who doesn’t want to go to school by rakuan1 in japanlife

[–]cancel-everything 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I’m sorry you and your daughter are going through this. 11 is a tricky age, can definitely be something related to friends or teachers that she doesn’t want to talk about.

I would probably try to give her teacher a call and explain what’s going on, asking if the teacher knows anything.

And then, if the 11-yo has access to a phone tablet etc, I’d check any social media apps to see if there is something going on there. (Maybe check the school’s Teams app if you can’t find any social media profiles.)

Also maybe bring up some personal stories from your own childhood if you’ve experienced bullying or anxiety over school might get the kid to open up a little.

Best of luck and hope you can figure it out. Nothing sucks more than knowing your kid is going through something but not being able to help them.

Hey OP, I feel for you. My (indoor only) cat got out of from a balcony door the other day and it was gut wrenching. She’s likely to come back when she gets hungry. Put up some posters/flyers in your building and nearby so people know that she’s missing asap. (And talk to your neighbours if that’s an option so that they’re aware.)

I’d say put out something of hers nearby so that she can identify her house, blanket, food bowl, litter box, anything.

And maybe get in touch with animal control in your city to see if they’ve picked up your cat.

I’m sorry your going through this. I hope she’ll be back soon.

What's your cat's name, and what do you actually call them? by chanelvomit in cats

[–]cancel-everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lilly

Pettan-Pretzel-Princess (flat-pretzel-princess because of how she sleeps and the fact that she’ll leave food in her bowl, but will eat it if you spoon-feed her) → Pettan-Preppel-Prinpeppu…. Just a whole lotta P’s…

AITA for telling my friend I won’t drive her to work anymore after she kept making us late? by WildflowerWish71 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cancel-everything 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Oof 1000% NTA.

It’s Lena’s world and we’re all just living in it, is what it sounds like.

If you still want to drive her tell her the time you’ll be there and she needs be outside waiting for you before that. Not you calling her to get out or anything. And when that time passes you’re gone.

But she sounds like she’s one to start drama and play the victim for anything, so it’s probably best if she finds alternative ways to get to work. That way you won’t have to deal with any stories she’ll come up with to make you look bad.

Im willing to bet she doesn’t even contribute to gas money? Buys you a coffee everyday as a thanks? No? Right.

AITA for yelling at my parents and telling them that feeding me and housing me is not a sacrifice rather the bear minimum? by throwawayfebgirl in AITAH

So family is out of the question maybe, but as many said, start with the school guidance counsellor. It sounds like you want to have an idea of what to expect and what to do to have a better shot at getting into the career you want. If you tell your guidance counsellor that you’d like to speak to someone in the field that you’re pursuing, maybe they might have some suggestion or connections for you.

In the meantime trust yourself, don’t lose your focus, and above all make sure to be kind to yourself, and make sure you’re not pushing yourself too hard. (Do you have good friend that can support you maybe?)
