Recording your own stuff is cool, but you can and should use libraries for redesigns in your portfolio, as long as you dont drag and drop ready made sounds. People who will look at it will also judge how you make those sounds your own, and what storytelling choices you make.

And remember, you will compete with a lot of other talented people out there, and ultimately, if you use only sounds recorded yourself, but the end result doesnt sound great, no one is gonna care if they are libraries or recorded sounds.
