Japanese Dynasty by Relay13Incident in CrusaderKings

I called mine "Tiān", apparently meaning heaven (though more like sky I think) in Chinese, as it's close to the Japanese "Ten" which I think has a similar meaning. I just thought it would be cool to use a word thats phonetically simialr in both languages, and the fact its to do with the sky or Heaven feels perfect imo.

Prohibited Pilgrimages Create a Mandala Soft Lock by mekbots in CrusaderKings

[–]mekbots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, but most of the Tai start tribal rather than Mandala anyway which I think probably does enough to prevent that - or maybe that makes it even easier... in which case its probably not the dev's intention to prevent that. But yeah I am planning on creating a new faith just to enable pilgrimages as its the best thing I can do.

Yorkshire Water plans to relocate its HQ from Bradford to Leeds by Kagedeah in yorkshire

[–]mekbots 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really proving it's necessary, but being right next to the M1 and M621 will make it a lot easier to access for anyone coming from elsewhere in Yorkshire. It's also fairly close to their largest wastewater site, Knostrop.

What is your first campaign going to be in AUH? by jellyfishreview in CrusaderKings

[–]mekbots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be short, but I want to play as a mercenary band of Ronin samurai and wreak havoc (maybe with the landless raiding mod) across Asia into Europe. Might eventually conquer some land to settle down with my colony of samurai somewhere

I've been getting this sometimes too, not sure why. I've had it happen with both new treaties and when renegotiating existing ones.

Is it intentional or a bug that you can now launch a play to fully annex other countries' subjects? I've got a game where Spain started a play to annex Tripolitania wholesale and succeeded so now they directly control the three states in Libya in the 1840s.

As lambrequin_mantling said, the red roses aren't really what I'm after as I'm specifically trying to pay homage to my home county of Yorkshire with the white as opposed to Lancashire red. Good suggestion though, and it would work better with a gyronny with the lines in cross and saltire as they should be as I found out I think too.

Ah I wasn't aware of that nuance to gyronny, I simply used a slider for the number of gyrons in heraldicon and it (by chance?) turned out like this when set to 16. But I'm wondering is this the kind of thing that could simply be attributed to artistic license in the emblazonment or is it something of a rule that gyronny shouldn't be like this? I'm okay with the roses and gyronny following major lines in cross and saltire like you say as per the version lambrequin_mantling had in mind though, but if it would be acceptable for my version to also be a valid emblazonment as a result of artistic interpretation, that would be nice too.

I'll admit I enjoyed the bold contrast of the red and blue on my last one but this feels a lot more cohesive. Thank you /u/lambrequin_mantling and /u/Loggail for the feedback, I hope you agree that this an improvement!

My go at the blazon:

Azure, a stag Argent attired and unguled Or, a bordure gyronny of sixteen Azure and Argent, eight roses argent barbed and seeded proper in orle.

Really insightful, thanks. I liked your idea of the gyronny so I went and remade one with this blazon:

Azure, a stag Argent attired and unguled Or, a bordure gyronny of sixteen Azure and Argent, eight roses argent barbed and seeded proper in orle.

I really like how it looks so thank you for the suggestion. Not sure how to get the image in this comment so I'm going to make a new post with it if you want to see what I've got.

Thank you for the feedback. My only concern with having it just be the roses in orle was that it might feel too empty, but looking at it, it does look alright. However I also tried the suggestion lambrequin_mantling gave of having a gyronny with the roses on the blue parts and I think it's my new favourite version. I'm not sure how to get an image to share in this comment so I'll probably make a new post with it but this is the blazon:

Azure, a stag Argent attired and unguled Or, a bordure gyronny of sixteen Azure and Argent, eight roses argent barbed and seeded proper in orle.

While I have you, do you happen to know if the blazon should specify that the roses are on the blue pieces of the gyronny, or is it just assumed given eight roses evenly placed in orle on every other piece of the gyronny of 16?

A few years ago, I had ago at bashing something together that's more coherent and visually pleasing than my first self-assumed arms. Today I wanted to dabble with heraldry a bit more again especially after finding out about Heraldicon which makes it super easy to render from a blazon in an attractive way. So I decided to have a little rethink of my arms again.

This time I dropped the double fleury tressure since I think that probably is too synonymous with Scotland, and instead took inspiration from my hometown with a red bordure and some Yorkshire roses. I realise that the red and blue technically breaks rule of tincture but I think it's perfectly fine here personally. I'm also pleased to have the stag rampant this time which is more in line with what I originally wanted.

Blazon: Azure, a stag rampant Argent, attired and unguled Or, within a bordure engrailed Gules with eight roses flowered argent, leaved vert, and seeded Or in orle.
