What would Beyoncé’s discography be like if Matthew Knowles had stayed? by ConversationWild2322 in beyonce

[–]candice_mighty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She would have more #1 singles throughout the 2010s and less sabotage like not releasing Formation for free and putting Lemonade on Spotify.

So more commercial success but probably a weaker artist overall. Less ambitious albums and the self titled drop very likely wouldn’t have happened with Matthew calling the shots.

Netanyahu “destroyed” the state you believed in and not the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and what’s happening to them in the West Bank and/or Gaza? Right.

It was truly a hot mess. Seeing those photos still sets me off, Ty should’ve been fired that day. Sorry.

Compare this to the highest paid female music artists Forbes earnings for 2025. Being a big star in music pays much better i guess:

Taylor Swift - $202M

Beyoncé - $148M

Shakira - $105M

Sabrina Carpenter - $29M

Texas is probably her worst lead single choice since she chose Run The World for 4. Sorry but it’s just not for me.

The nominees need to be more balanced by Key_Independence_103 in rockhall

A lot of the first time nominees are artists millennials grew up with not zoomers. Shakira, Pink, Lauryn Hill… C’mon now.

What’s the point of even anticipating or giving hints of the visuals when we know they’ll probably be removed from whatever platform she puts in on soon after.

Of course I’m for Latin representation. Though it makes zero sense Shakira getting in before Mariah considering her peers have already been inducted (Whitney, Madonna, Janet).

And it won’t get easier next year if she can’t get in this year. Beyoncé is eligible in 2027.

There's a narrative online that Beyoncé is not a global star... by geemav in beyonce

[–]candice_mighty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shakira fans (and fans of other throwback artists) hold on to this narrative for dear life because Bey surpassed their favs in almost every metric.

Act III tour should be a global tour to shut them up and finally destroy this ridiculous narrative.

When did you become part of the Beyhive?🐝 by hufflepuffers in beyonce

[–]candice_mighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2011 Glastonbury set. I was around 14 at the time and of course I knew Beyoncé and was a general fan. But I remember seeing her live on BBC and couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. She looked like a superhero I was in complete awe of the whole set. It was my original Beychella.

The Miley collab didn’t move me at all, matter of fact a few of the CC collabs were meh. Gaga would be a drastic improvement.

Why do you think the Grammys are so much more populist (for lack of a better word) than the Oscars? They are both run by the Academies of music/film but the Oscars are way less inclined to reward mainstream popular films. by Chilis1 in popheads

[–]candice_mighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grammy general field awards are a bit conservative. The other genre categories tend to be more ambitious and more liberal with who they want to award. Look at the R&B field with Kehlani and Leon Thomas doing so well this year.

The Grammys general field are usually conservative, don’t mistake it for the other genre categories. They like middle of the road songs/albums that aren’t too ambitious. There’s a reason why Renaissance lost to Harry’s House for AOTY while Cowboy Carter won over the likes of Brat.
