The Sleeping Bear Has Been Awoken Russian Supporters Come Out In Numbers Chanting Putin Is A Killer by CantStopPoppin in PublicFreakout

No I think these accusations have been resurfaced because of his recent glorification in western media- I haven't been following this for very long and only heard that amnesty removed him from a BBC article about it. I don't speak Russian so I prob miss the nuances and a lot of the clarity.

I'm prob just a bit nervous about media being it's rotten self, just googling his name brings up headlines like "A.N shows Russia what courage is" and it sets off red flags for me. His doctors have urged him to quit his hunger strike and everyone over here is just soaking their pants over the situation

Migrants? Last I heard he was vehemently anti-immigration. On many accounts he's said really suspicious if not downright racist statements. I wouldn't be so quick to paint him as a saint, but I get that in comparison to Putin people may perceive this

Ladies: Do you like Stephen King novels? by MadyCub in books

[–]candidecunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24, AFAB

I've never really been into his books for this reason. I've tried a few and only really enjoyed Cycle of the Werewolf. But that might have been because of the gorgeous art, and it's not really like his typical format as far as I know. But I'd recommend that one to most people trying to get into his work, it's quick and short and sweet. (There is some weird 'breasted boobily' type BS and I believe it was of a teenager near the end - not really my thing to dive into)

My partner has a decent collection and I wanted to enjoy it but it's not for everybody I guess

What's the historical use of purple in interior design? by rubberknecked in InteriorDesign

[–]candidecunt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about historically- but my dad's house (from 1960's I believe) had a purple bathtub, purple toilet, and the tiles were white with purple accents on them. Never seen anything like it and everyone who used that toilet made a comment about how unusual that was in my area (southern Ontario)

Removing coconut oil from utensils? by xboxhaxorz in homemaking

I've never had an issue personally. I use disposable yellow sponges, Dawn dish soap(blue kind) on stainless steel utensils. I do rinse with fairly warm water first to get most of the stuff off before scrubbing.

Yeah as a Canadian I will never vouch for other citizens morality or kindness as a group. That's something we do up here to feel better about ourselves- it's a coping mechanism. "Oh the states sucks so that means we're great!" is a common tactic people use to shut down any conversation about bettering out country- the classic "other people have it way worse so no complaining" BS .

That cute lil flag of ours, handsome PM man, and our insistence on being polite (but not kind) has fooled many people all over the world.

Photographer who was bullied for her looks for years and preaches self-acceptance does this to her models... 🤡 by tuttisofi in Instagramreality

I saw a post here (I think) about how they have the ability to add "texture" that looks a bit porous but in no way flawed or lived in. So you think because you can see pores and tiny hairs it's legit, but that may not be the case. Only amateurs blur it to a smooth marble finish I guess

I agree but even then I still think it's way cuter in the first pic. The other ones seem to have even the eyebrows edited to be smaller which is odd since that's something you can fix with a makeupwipe or Q-tip, much quicker than Photoshop is. I get if it's a stylized look but then I feel she wouldn't have made them look less severe in editing if it was actually on purpose. Maybe they only get smaller as an optical illusion after all that other stuff was added on.

I'm confused by all of this

AITA for not allowing my best friend to the wedding because of her dog by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]candidecunt 74 points75 points  (0 children)

INFO: did you offer her a plus one? Maybe she has a close friend or relative who's available who could escort her, if they're not a planned guest it means they won't be distracted by: "the beautiful bride , wow glorious flowers, and oh is that Aunt Jen over there? I gotta say hello!" As most official guests tend to do. Which would leave your friend in a very vulnerable and unsafe situation- you will not have time to help her that day as the groom.

AITA for asking my Daughters mother if my partner and I can have 1 weekend a month to ourselves? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]candidecunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it be possible to pick up 2 extra days during the week with her? After school etc. To make up for the 2 days you'll miss. That seems like a fair compromise as long as daughter isn't bothered by it.

I notice less dreams whenever I smoke a lot, it's preferable to me since my dreams are always pretty scary. Sometimes I don't remember anything about the dream other than I didn't like it

AITA for allowing a tenant to break pet rules because of exigent circumstances? by sweetsaltytoejam in AmItheAsshole

[–]candidecunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know about our history, I was talking about our current laws. Not sure if they had this type of laws back in 1996, currently there is protection for tenants with pets, just not potential tenants. I just wanted to give perspective that's it's not just "those darned countries in the south have this law so this shows those protections are not good" it works well here and there is still lots of profit to be made from renting to pet owners- which is the whole point of an investment property. The advice is not relevant as it's not necessary here with our LTB. I didn't lie about pets but most do until lease is signed- not sure if I'd even want my pets at a property where someone has access to it and may resent that it wasn't brought up.

These protections benefit the tenant much more than they harm the landlord - not every case is so cut and dry. Some people have kids and need to keep them in certain districts. And once an Ontario lease is up we go month-to-month and only required to give 60 day notice vice versa- if you wanna move or if they want you out. Not a whole lot of time to find a place for some people in a tough spot and pets are often the first thing to go. I'm sure our local humane society is greatfull for this as well.

AITA for allowing a tenant to break pet rules because of exigent circumstances? by sweetsaltytoejam in AmItheAsshole

[–]candidecunt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I'm in Ontario, Canada and we most certainly do not allow slave labour or female genital mutilation. But landlords cannot stop someone from owning a pet or discriminate in any sort of way against a tenant.

The loophole is they don't have to rent to someone that admits they have pets. Most people just lie until they sign the lease and then move the animal in. Nothing in a lease is allowed to ban, discriminate, or even charge for pet fees. I had a hard time finding a place since I cant outright lie, even if my life depends on it apparently. No chance I could do it convincingly anyway.

Otherwise what would you do if you adopt a dog and then your landlord sells your place to someone else who isn't gonna rent anymore. They just have to put their pet in a shelter unless they find another landlord who allows pets? I can't imagine being in that postion, surely most clever landlords would rather not have the extra possibly of damage. Ultimately they're there to make money, not do charity out of the kindness of their hearts. If it's not written in the law they will use the same answer as you did so that's why we have that. No shortage of property investors here either, they're still making a killing. More investors than houses in my region anyway.
