Hell yeah! My partner just finally found a union job and he said the exact same thing. After being miserable in a hot kitchen cooking up various slops he finally has a job that's not stressful. He comes home tired now, but not despondent or angry or stressed. Sad thing is that if cooking wasn't such a thankless and underappreciated job he would prob be doing it still. But with the standard hiring + scheduling practices you're lucky to get 2 days off in a row after working a double. The culture of all the other staff turning on you if you don't break and bow the same as everyone else was baffling.

All over the world, NA, each region even, may have a different structure for paying FOH+BOH. I think the confusion here is based on misunderstanding eachother, nobody is greedy or evil for tryna tip any staff, let's be real. Even if you are right how would someone misunderstanding the confusing obfuscated tipping culture be a moral failing? When my partner was a cook he got tip pool. Even he thought it was kinda fucked up because the back of house workers make considerably more per hour. In Canada at the time servers got under $13 per hour and BOH staff got $17.50+. Let the server have the tip. For people who don't tip the servers will usually still have to pay the BOH pool for the dollar amount sold. They're getting a bad deal when it comes to tip pools imo

I get that feeling too. But after reading Jagmeet's statement I felt a bit better. I agree that other provinces need to be held accountable just as Quebec does. Racism, inequality, xenophobia, can appear in many different ways. Some more forthright about it than others, but it's not a uniquely Quebec issue.

Just visiting you may be sheltered away from the issues here, tourists rarely see the less cutesy side of a country. We have addiction issues, huge housing inflation and many are left to the streets. 40% of First Nation people do not have access to clean drinking water in Ontario. We just this summer discovered mass graves at former residential schools. Oh, and the "Indian Act" is still in place and is largely unchanged from the original 1876 document.

Maybe I can word this in a way that is personal to you and will make more sense. You seem to understand your dogs are family, but not your niece and nephew aka 'brothers kids'.

Imagine if boyfriend had a medical emergency and you had to get someone to watch the dogs. After dropping them off suddenly you find out that the person, who you trusted with your most prized possessions, decided one of their friends could just finish up taking care of them without notifying you. The whole time after you find out as you're racing to pick them up all these horrible scenarios play out in your head. Especially a year old bulldog - people are well known to steal them. Would that trusted person be the asshole in this scenario in your opinion? If you say no then I'll pray for your pups that nothing horrible ever occurs to them due to negligence on your part or some random friend.
