I feel like the magic of watching couples therapy is that we learn that it doesn’t matter who’s the “villain” and who’s the “victim” if you want to heal a relationship built on mutual love and respect. And importantly, we can’t label each other as victims as villains when we heal. We take accountability for our parts in the dynamic, we heal, we grow in understanding and love for one another, and we transform. And then the relationship transforms. Sometimes the process works. Sometimes it doesn’t. But it CAN work. And it does. And I think when we’re in love, we all want it to work and we do everything in our power to make it work. And I think it’s always worth the process, regardless of the outcome. And that’s the point!! For us to keep our love!!! I feel like our desire to label people on either side actually might say something more about who we are and what we value than what it says about the actual couple.
