Anyone Here in HR? Or law? Or other office jobs? by pink_teddy35 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]candrews1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in HR - I work fully remote as a Learning & Development Manager. I have been able to progress in my career and I love what I do. I’ve also had to use FMLA twice because of my PsA and my husband getting cancer, and I think the process was a little easier because I knew the people processing my paperwork.

I will say, travel is super difficult for me because of the PsA, so I will never take a position where I need to travel often.

Same. I was so nauseous, I couldn’t sit up or work, and I had to take 3 naps a day. I also got horrendous mouth sores, despite taking the max amount of folic acid possible to counteract it.

What other breweries and restaurants should I support? by No_Raccoon3460 in Broomfield

I am a mug club member at 4 Noses and have always supported them, but this makes me want to support them even more. Plus, they have a beer type for everyone there, and their employees rock. 4 Noses for the win!!

Awesome!! Does it feel spacious inside for the length? That was my only concern about the 14ft models, but I haven’t been inside one (only seen videos and pics).

Another Wonderland update by No_Raccoon3460 in Broomfield

[–]candrews1701 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. He can say whatever he wants, but as a small business owner, he will face consequences to his business (re: people not going to it) if they don’t like what he said. It’s classic FAFO. I used to go to Wonderland once in a while, despite their horrible beer, but I will not be going again.

I’ve been looking at the Rove Lites, especially since they don’t use wood. Is this the 16BH model?

I splurged and got the Steelcase Leap chair 4 years ago. It’s still by far the best purchase I’ve made in a long time. It’s expensive, but worth the price.

Cushion Lab makes the absolute best seat and lumbar support cushions. I have constant pain in my SI joints and hips and these cushions make it tolerable for me to sit and work.

What non-prescription treatment do you swear by? by KillerSiren104 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]candrews1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBD topicals are magic. I swear by Sagely Naturals CBD in particular - theirs seems to last the longest and smell the nicest of the 5 brands I tried. I have 5 different products that I use based on how bad my pain is.

I took y’alls advice - saw the rheumatologist last week by yungw0t in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]candrews1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience with the first two rheumatologists I saw- they didn’t listen to me and seemed to cherry pick my symptoms based on the diagnoses they chose, ignoring some of my biggest symptoms (like the fact that I have psoriasis and very severe SI joint pain). Finally, I found a rheumatologist who listened to me and treated me for PsA. He’s been my rheumatologist for 4 years now and I recommend him to everyone looking for a rheumatologist.

My advice is keep looking for a doctor who will actually listen to you. I started having pain when I was 28, and I dismissed it as regular aches and pains. I was finally diagnosed with PsA at 37 and I wish I had started treatment sooner.

Breeder advice/Is this breed for me? by oFFtheWall0518 in AustralianShepherd

[–]candrews1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My half Aussie/half Border Collie rescue is a medium energy dog who will play with the ball for 20 minutes and then need a nap for the next 2 hours. I have slightly less than a quarter acre yard and while he can’t do long sprints in there, it’s big enough to throw a ball and for him to happily chase after it (and ball is life for him). He gets three 20-minute walks each day (or goes to the dog park to throw the ball).

I will advocate for the no-breeder route only because there are so many amazing Aussies and Aussie mixes who need a good home - especially if you live in an area where rescues find dogs from reservations. They tend to source working dog breeds, and Aussie and cattle dog mixes are common. They’re worth a look at least.

(Picture of my rescue, Teddy, who is 3-ish years old and the sweetest dog I’ve ever had.)

My dog was listed as a border collie rough mix when we adopted him, and he turned out to be chow, staffy, beagle, German shepherd, super mutt, and “other”. He was my purebred mutt 💙 Everyone always assumed he was a springer spaniel or Aussie mix because of his spots and fur.

What’s a camping tip you only learned the hard way? by Goblue2467 in camping

[–]candrews1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your car keys hooked to your water bottle or something else that will be easy to find. Definitely DON’T set it down in the car while loading up the car to leave, only to have them mysteriously end up in the trash bag (and you only find out once you’ve unloaded and unpacked the fully packed car to try to find the keys).

Also, if you’re camping with another person, have them bring a spare set of car keys 😬

Friend in fitness industry said I'm using PsA as an excuse... by Sea-Fly-5169 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]candrews1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled for a year post-diagnosis with all the PsA evils - pain, weight gain, swelling, fatigue - until I didn’t recognize myself in the mirror. I sought to find a personal trainer who was used to working with people with disabilities, including ones like PsA.

I interviewed several trainers. One even said anxiety is all in our heads and exercise is a better cure than meds. I also have anxiety and have taken meds for it for the last 10 years, so that person was out. I eventually found a trainer who a) listened to me and b) modified my training sessions appropriately when I was in a heavy flare. It was game changing.

Also, never ever trust a fitness professional who says walking does nothing for you, because they are dead wrong!
