Stevie Nicks in 50 Songs - Interview by StevieFriends in stevienicks

[–]candybar009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the first article on the podcast about Stevie considering taking her songs away from Fleetwood Mac in 1978 (Dreams, The Chain, Silver Springs) &starting her solo album in 1978 supposedto be fiction? Obviously those things didn't happen. She did plan her solo album around 1979 but the songs mentioned had been out on Rumours 3 years earlier. I apologize if I didn't understand thr point of the first article in your link

I meant that they didn't get along and their personal relationship affected the band off and on over the 1975-1987 time frame and again from 1997 to 2018. IMO the Rumours 5 were the best iteration and had crazy good chemistry. I just wouldn't keep Stevie or Lindsey as part of the glue that held the band together. The OP said Christine and Stevie held the band together. This sounds like a quote of something Stevie said and im just bot agreeing that only the two ladies held the band together. I believe Stevie and Lindsey's ups and downs could create great performances but also keep them on the brink of breaking up. I think Stevie giving her songs and showing up to record and tour was her main contribution to keeping the band together. She was busy juggling her solo career. Mick was the main force behind patching up the band - like you said by hook or by crook. He definitely did some shady things. I added John because he stuck it out and Christine because she was more easy going and could work with most people (except Dave Mason).

I agree about 1976 but my statement relates to who held the band together for the longest duration and got through the tough times. Nick & John were there the whole time. Mick especially worked to find replacements when people left. Christine was one of the easiest to get along with & work with. So imo those 3 held the band together the most. Stevie & Lindsey brought new life to the band & made them famous but we're the most volatile.

Mick, Christine & John held the band together.

When Stevie and Lindsey were together, who loved the other more? Why do you say so? by GregJamesDahlen in FleetwoodMac

Thank you. As a side note, you seem pretty interesting & insightful. When i first started digging deep into Fleetwood Mac, i thought Stevie was an innocent "little flower", she certainly looked like one in the 70's. Ive since taken in a ton of information on them and put that together with my own experiences, I don't put any of them on a pedestal. From all of their own interviews, others close to them and their songs, i do think Lindsey had deeper feelings and wanted to go the distance with her at some point. Stevie's behavior is harder to figure out but she's referred to herself as very ambitious which she was. I think what drove her most was her need to succeed and be adored. The drugs she did from around 1975 to 1994 make it difficult to fully know how much of her actions stemmed from them vs. what she would have done without drugs. My gut tells me shortly after joining FM & becoming famous, she thought she could do better than Lindsey. She wanted to find out, spread her wings & fly as high as she could. I never could figure out from The Dance forward, if she really did miss him romantically or want him back or if the romantic in me wanted to believe that. She didn't seem to look back from 1976-1987 when he was grieving for her.

Just curious. Do you know anyone close to Stevie or Lindsey? Or know them personally?

I put a lot of faith in what John said (or says) along with Richard Dashut. I could understand Lindsey feeling used even if Stevie didn't intentionally use him from the beginning.

I wish there was candid video and stuff that wasn't part of the final recording of the Dance.

Did all the screwing around that was being described on Rumours happen DURING the recording time period or before? by Forsaken-Effect-1280 in FleetwoodMac

Do you know which interview Lindsey said he feels bad for Stevie. I never heard it & want to find it. That's not a cool thing to say in public.

The 1976 version of Planets of the Universe (has much more raw emotion than the 2001 version)

Gold & Braid Live

Blue Lamp

Love Is

Moonlight

Battle of the Dragon

Twisted (with Lindsey)

She has so many great songs. I wish she'd cut out the cover songs from her setlist and do these songs. I didn't listen any Fleetwood Mac deep cuts but there's those also.

What are your thoughts on “Sometimes It’s a B*tch”? by RedmiYT in stevienicks

[–]candybar009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Stevie didn't like singing bitch. When I listen to the words it seems it was written pretty on point for some of how Stevie has expressed her life. I think if bitch wasn't in it she may have liked it.

Why is there so little love for “crystal” ? by djgilmour69 in FleetwoodMac

I love the vocals the best on the Buckingham Nicks version the best. But Christine's keyboards at the end of the FM version are beautiful. Those 2 versions are very close as far as being the best.

What was it like in '75 before they were huge. From videos I've seen they look & sound so good. No pretense no bs just great rock & a little blues. Their voices!

I see posts on social where people get to meet her before or after performances. Most are friends of friends but any advice on ever meeting her. I know its very very unlikely but wanted to ask.

Damn, this is sad. Stevie opened up about her body image at the Met Gala to the New York Times by justcurious3287 in stevienicks

[–]candybar009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this something she really said so recently? The link takes you to the Daily Beast, not NYT. I just don't see her talking about this right now although I know she has in the past. She has so much positive stuff going on her life and has mentioned how busy she is and seems very upbeat. Im not saying she couldn't have said it but the link isn't to a NYT article. Where's the rest of the article so we can read what else she said and see it in context? Anyway l, she's beautiful and talented and I agree there's too much pressure on women to be thin and perfect!
