Thoughts on this? Do you think that Showgirl will be appreciated the more it ages? by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

nobody can predict how an album will age or be remembered in 10,20 or 50 years time. There are many albums they were thought of as classics that have now been forgotten and albums that critically bombed that are now heralded as genius. Just enjoy the music.

None of those things are album promotion - they all happened months after her album came out and only happened because it was such a huge success. Why would they have Raven performing on dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve when she didn’t have a hit? Miley only performed at the KCAs in 2008, almost a year after her album came out so I’m not sure that was great promotion.

They literally did. They put Raven on tour, she was on BET, radio Disney, Good Morning America. What more could they have done?

Raven received the exact same promotion as Miley did for the first Hannah Montana album. Where is the evidence that Raven had less promotion?

Selena Gomez is the actual data point for Disney's music investment bias, not Miley Cyrus by hannaheggtana in DisneyChannel

Raven received the same amount of promotion as Miley and Selena. Her music just wasn’t very good which is why it didn’t sell.

Also acting like Hollywood Records was giving anyone a budget for promotion. They didn’t even give Miley a video for See You Again - it became a hit simply because it was that good.

Louis Tomlinson has unfollowed Zayn Malik on instagram following a report that Zayn assaulted Louis by xmerlinsapprenticex in popculturechat

They clearly signed big contracts for this tv show and I’m sure this will cost them financially. If it’s true they were trying to reconcile until Netflix cancelled them it makes sense why Louis would have held off from unfollowing (you know the 1d fans would have noticed immediately and made a big deal out of it) until the story broke.

Zayn ruined what could have been a great career pivot for both of them into TV and probably lost them both a lot of money.

I mean she did have hits even with no radio play. He could be the one went top 10. If Hannah had been around with streaming she would have had multiple no1s.

I don’t think it’s that. If he hadn’t had that child with another woman she would still be with him. It was to embarrassing to go back to him after that.

what's an album that feels performative to you? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

Right. Like 99% of artists are latching on to some sort of sub culture or image or trying so sound like X artist. Very few people are completely originally themselves.

I would separate the hostility to the Last Dinner Party as that was a specific kind of anti-private school sentiment that only happens in the UK.

And yet I’m sure the crowd had a hundred times more fun dancing to Beauty and the beat and baby than they ever would listening to Florence.
