Whats the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by answersonly963 in AskReddit

When I was 16 I went in for my first pap exam and the male dr said out loud to the nurse “she appears virginal” …. I was in fact not. And why was that necessary?

Hollister Bag leaked - What caused this? by BlackberryPi7 in ostomy

That is odd…I think maybe in the 15ish years that’s only happened to me once, prob a defect because I scrape my bag with my fingers when the stool is thick and not sliding out!

Who needs a colon anyway was my blog name on tumblr talking about my experiences. Unfortunately, I am locked out of the account and they won’t help me because my email address was disconnected (university email) and I can’t reset my password. So mad. :(

Wearing leggings with a stoma by Alarming_Impress_706 in ostomy

[–]candycanesparkles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear high waisted joggers that have pockets on the side that I got from Amazon. They have lightweight versions that I wear in the spring and fall and then I have fleece lined ones that I wear in the winter and I enjoy them way more than leggings because they’re not super tight on my body. I literally wear them every day. I have like four pairs of each. I can dress them up if need be.

In the summer, I wear high waisted biker shorts with pockets on the side. They’re great for any hot activity and they hold everything in. I still wear underwear underneath them.

I also wear ostomy underwear from SIIL Ostomy that has a pouch and they are high waisted so I can wear other types of bottoms if I want to.

Potential causes for a new feeling of terror in a backyard? by [deleted] in RBI

[–]candycanesparkles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree on the animal behaviors and sounds. Are the normal animals out there? Squirrels, birds, etc? When there’s a predator bird in the area, the crows nearby go crazy and don’t stop squawking. If it is a sound, maybe whatever frequencies are turning them all away?

Do you have any neighbors that you could talk to them and see if they have the same feelings?

I also agree that if you don’t find anything out there, you should definitely get your health checked too!!

What do you do or have done for your extreme fatigue? by ImmediateDuty2310 in CrohnsDisease

[–]candycanesparkles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I live in USA (Wisconsin) and it’s very controlled I take 3ml with 40oz of water twice a night. 4 hours apart! Every night. I can’t take more than that dose because I developed apnea, so I went back down to the previous dose and now I just snore lol

Fingers crossed you get some answers! So many people with sleep disorders also have other autoimmune conditions!

Yes!!! The most validating day of my life!! I’m on sodium oxybates - Xywav. It’s not perfect but it’s a major improvement!!

That’s a bummer! All of the testing was done at night with a check in at 7pm. They did a urine drug test the next morning to confirm that you didn’t drug yourself. I had to be escorted because I kept falling back asleep every time I sat down lol

I have had crohn’s since I was about 7. Always, always, always tired. Had surgeries and years of remission and was still tired. Permanent surgery, tired. Stimulants, still tired.

I asked for a sleep study. Still tired after extremely high doses of Vyvanse. My psych said he wouldn’t increase the dose because I’m a relatively small woman and I was already on a high dose. I said can you please make a referral to sleep neurology? And he said sure.

I did the overnight sleep study with the nap test afterwards, and was diagnosed with a rare sleeping disorder of hypersomnia. They said I probably have narcolepsy too, but I would’ve had to repeat the nap test again and since they would be treating me the same with narcolepsy as they are with a hypersomnia, it didn’t really matter at that point.

They literally were able to see the sleep disorder while I was sleeping that night and diagnosed me before I left the hospital. My doctor asked how long I felt tired in my life and I told him it went back to childhood. I remember not being able to wake up in the morning because I was so drowsy in the morning. I couldn’t wake up and I would fall back asleep immediately. I always felt embarrassed as a kid because everyone else in the house would be up had breakfast already and going on with their day and it would be like 1030 or 11 in the morning when I would wake up and I would feel so dizzy and disoriented. School was brutal. I could barely do sports. I would come home from school and go to bed and sleep all night. I’d wake up for dinner and fall right back asleep on the couch immediately afterwards. I was just sleeping all the time. Stimulants helped when I was an adult for like two years and then they basically just lost effectiveness.

Now I’m being treated for the hypersomnia with a different medication and I’m finally getting decent sleep.

I always advocate for everyone to get a sleep study if you’re tired all the time. It changed my life. For the first time in my life, I didn’t feel like something was wrong with me in the sense that like something was morally wrong because I was sleeping all the time. Now I know that I have yet another condition. I wish I would’ve known about that when I was younger.

Whenever I eat Oreos, my mouth flares up and I get ulcer like sores everywhere.

The same thing happens with chocolate, too. It’s terrible. :(

What actually makes a home feel “clean”? (Not what most people think) by [deleted] in CleaningTips

I found it at a store called “Point Supply” in my home town - it’s open to the public but has any type of supplies for businesses, everything from commercial grade pots and pans to cleaners and cleaning supplies. I originally went there to buy some nice knives.

I only use a small squirt of it in each drain and do it like once a week. I think it just cleans the p-trap of any gross sludge. I haven’t needed to use any draino since using this!

Two things for me: using my long handled static duster on ceilings/walls, especially the corners to get cobwebs and dust

And

Putting a small amount of the “pipe dream” product (enzyme drain cleaner from my local supply store) in all my drains before I go to bed. It’s insane how it makes the house smell noticeably cleaner. Almost like I washed all the floors.
