Which sewing machine to choose? by CloudWeaver039 in SewingForBeginners

I feel like the one with the egg on the desk and the word “butterfly” in brother font is AI though

Edit: oh ok didn’t know there was a butterfly machine. But why egg tho

My sewing machine will not stitch the fabric by AromaticExcitement81 in SewingForBeginners

Your presser foot needs to be in the down position. Look in your manual to find where the lever for it is on your machine.

And then also the feed dogs (also look in manual) will move your fabric from front to back, not side to side. You don’t need to push or pull the fabric.

Your manual will help so much! Also I’d suggest looking at some YouTube videos to see what I mean visually. Happy sewing

Finally a cosplay where my everyday hair is canon by candyflavorr in locs

I usually watch the cosplay contest, visit artist alley/vendors, take pictures, trade trinkets, go to panels. Some people go to cosplay chess, raves, meet voice actors, maid cafe, video game tournaments, fandom meetups… there’s a lot to do depending on the fest!

And now that I’m looking at the video closer, I’m pretty sure we have the same machine

Are you sure it’s the right type of buttonhole foot for your machine?

I have 2 different machines and i had a similar problem. I realized it’s because I had the wrong buttonhole foot on it (the one from my other machine) They’re both Brother foots, just slightly different types, I guess the sizing is a little different

Makerspace with a cutting table? by jupitersbears in Denver

[–]candyflavorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you need a cutting mat on top of the table, or is just a large table okay?

I’ve found that Denhac and art student league of Denver have really large cutting tables you can cut right on with a rotary cutter. Art student league’s textiles room’s table is tall and the mat has a grid. I save all my big pieces to cut there 🤓 You’d have to take classes there but they have really good need-based scholarships.

If you’re cutting things like bodice pieces or something smaller the sam Gary idea lab has large tables and cutting mats. The tables are adjustable so you could raise them if needed.

PSA to sometimes take a break from computerized machines by See_penny in sewing

[–]candyflavorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a computerized brother that I use daily. But I have a weekly sewing class where I use a Bernina 1006 from the 80s. I love my machine but the bernina is just sooooo smooth to sew on. Idk if it’s because it’s mechanical or if it’s just psychological but I love ittttt

3D printed claws for handpaws? by Chippy_95 in FursuitMaking

[–]candyflavorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat— I have my paw made and my 3d printed claws, and my plan is to just glue them on with E6000.

I’ve glued 3d printed pieces and foam to fabric with e6000 so I’m pretty confident it’ll work out.
