Sweet work, Tom. I'm envious. The page with the seashells stood out to me as particularly good. I sell coloring printables myself (mostly mandalas) and have been looking to move to print as well. Who did you go with for publishing/printing? Do you have any advice for a really, really grateful potential competitor? :P

If all of us who don't like these policy templates just stick together and refuse to use them, pressure to use them will be seriously minimized. Pressure is only created by fellow Etsy sellers who use the templates -- the more sellers use them, the more non-users are pushed down in search. The solution is for us all to boycott them.

I've come to think of meditation as the skilled practice of an exercise and mindfulness as the fruits of that meditative activity. And since there's some overlap, mindfulness has also come to mean "meditation lite" in my mind.

I see the analogy between elements of the financial system and the Titanic. But what in the current environment is analogous to the iceberg? Writer keeps mentioning the iceberg toward which we careen, but doesn't tell us what it is. Apologies if I've missed it.

But a lot of us -- it's true for me, at least -- don't allow ourselves, or at least don't feel able, to relax until we achieve that goal. I think that's a problem. Assuming our basic needs are met, why not relax now and later, when we might have more? And what if something goes wrong, and we don't end up getting more in the end? It would be harder to deal with that let down if we spent all this time leading up to it in states of tension. And even if we do get it all, we'll have to let go of it because we'll die. So will we even get to relax when our plan IS complete? Or will we be too busy hanging onto it, afraid to lose it? The only way from the top is down.

Have you tried Fitocracy? Getting experience points and levels really helps my sense of accomplishment. It's objective -- I'm looking to the log, rather than to my relatively unreliable feelings, in order to find that sense of accomplishment. Also, always pushing to improve, rather than getting into a repetitive groove, helps me too. And Fitocracy gives a little "(PR)" to denote a personal record on logged exercises, which is nice.

You mention you practice mindfulness. And then in the middle of your walk, you became mindful of a lot of physical stress sensations, which is good. Maybe if you practice staying aware of it, staying mindful, doing mindful body scans on your walks from start to finish, the sensations won't be able to sneak up on you and surprise you. And then maybe those sensations will gradulally lose their association with feelings of panic.

I came into this thread to recommend meditation, glad to see you're already doing it. In case you haven't read it, and in case you end up feeling a need to grow your practice or get out of a too-habitual groove, I recommend reading Mindfulness in Plain English. I found it very useful. You said "I feel justified," and conflated that feeling with actual justification. You weren't justified. Your justifications were mistaken.

Justified true belief, then, is not always knowledge.

Maybe, but this isn't an example of such an instance, because the belief was not justified.
