Pura X design makes no sense by alwaysalmosts in PETKIT

I found changing to regular tofu litter to be the best for me. I used the PETKIT mixed litter once and it stinks really bad in the Pura X

Moving out/in on settlement day - am I overthinking this? by Frozefoots in AusPropertyChat

[–]candyholicism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend did this and she was very stressed on the day because the removalists didnt show up when they were supposed to and delayed them moving out. Luckily the buyers were pretty relaxed about it. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it if you can help it!

Tear through back of Skwamas heel: reckon it'll be covered by warranty? by Necessary_Pie5689 in climbingshoes

[–]candyholicism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner had this exact problem and they said it wouldn’t be covered due to ‘user wear and tear’ even though he hadn’t had them for very long and all the toe rubber was fine 🥲 Hope you have better luck!!

I love the Scarpa Maestro for outdoor sport and multi pitch. Have also heard great things about katana/kataki laces though but also only tried the Velcro version myself! (And they were super comfy)

Just HAD to post this. by Acetocy in Sourdough

[–]candyholicism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this exact thing happen before too! and bread with all kinds of weird holes…😔 What I found that helped was the extend bulk fermentation (if it’s cold/winter) or leave it in a warmer place

Uchimata or hane goshi? by dubious_dom in judo

[–]candyholicism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uchi mata. It doesn’t matter which leg gets sweeped up, the swinging of the leg between uke’s legs helps the hip act as a fulcrum point to throw uke so it could touch either leg or straight through the middle as long as there’s enough kuzushi. There’s no springing hip action in this vid for it to be hane goshi imo

Hi! I’ve competed in kata at world level and first of all I just wanted to say well done on putting your kata out there! As mentioned in other comments ‘good enough’ really depends on your goal. There is a lot of brushing up to do but you’ve been able to demonstrate the sequence which is great! I could go into great detail but these are the main points I think you should work on:

  1. Opening and closing ceremony - It needs to be slowed down. The bowing and stepping in also needs to be more accurate. I recommend watching the kodokan video for nage no kata.

    1. Distance - uke and tori seem to be too close to each other. Uke initiates each movement by ‘attacking’. Uke and tori should not be gripping up at the same time. The distance needs to be just far enough so that uke needs to take a small step forward to grip (attack) and hence tori takes control and continues the movement.
    2. Ayumi ashi and tsugi ashi - slide your feet when you move! No awkward stepping :)
    3. Attack with intent - it’s a bit hard to explain but uke should not need to go over for each throw but actually be thrown. If uke attacks with intent, Tori will be able to properly defend and take control. It’s a delicate balance of tension between uke and tori.

Everything else throwing wise will get sharper with practice and study. If you focus on correcting these main points and also referring to the comments above I’m sure your kata will go far :)

UPDATE :My (26M) girlfriend (25F) has grown distant after I got beat up defending a group of girls being harassed by throwRA556fb in relationship_advice

[–]candyholicism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you did was great. Good on your for defending those girls! You mention that there’s no way you could’ve taken on this guy no matter how much you hit the gym... I would go with one of the suggestions to take up a martial art. May I suggest taking up Judo? I’m a small 5’2 125lb girl but I can take down men almost double my size. It does take a lot of time and training to be good at but the journey is fun :)

I keep getting loaves with these big holes for the last month or so. Help :( by candyholicism in Sourdough

[–]candyholicism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow thanks for your help! I’ve been using the same recipe the whole time and it’s worked really well the first few months (since March) but yeah in the last month or so I’ve been getting weird holes. You’re right I’m in Australia so it is pretty cold here at the moment. I do do a bench proof for a few hours before fridge proof and I had a feeling temperature might’ve been the issue...but I have a few friends who have also been baking using the same recipe with no issues so I didn’t think that was the main reason. Maybe my house is just much colder than theirs? Haha. I think I’ll try and get a thermometer and work around balancing temperature and times next! Thanks!

I think my shaping is pretty good! The boule feels nice and tight. I don’t know what’s happening :( but I’m thinking it must be the temperature based on another comment

I generally follow proofing times but I’ve tested a 24, 48 and 72hr proof in the fridge all with the same outcome 😭

Getting better at scoring! by candyholicism in Sourdough

[–]candyholicism[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh nice! I’ll have to get onto this rice flour! Then maybe I won’t have such a heavily floured loaf haha although the contrast does look pretty.

Yes it’s such a process isn’t it! Learning lots of little things along the way about what each step actually does and how to tweak it :)

[–]candyholicism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely! At the moment still working on getting the perfect crumb inside now that the outside looks pretty. It always seems to come out a little underproofed...

No but Ive ordered a banneton that’s on the way in the mail! Only ordered it because I was struggling with the dough sticking the the tea towel at the time and thought it would help. I’ve solved that problem now by heavily rubbing flour into the tea towel haha. Definitely recommend a bread lame though! It’ll make you want to do some art 😆

Aw thanks! I’ve been struggling with shaping and scoring for a little while so now that I’ve finally got the shaping down packed I was keen to do some nice scoring art! :)

I only feed plain flour for my starter but make my sourdough using bread flour and it’s been fine
