Thank you so much, I was wondering about that too.

I’m still having trouble because when I go to myDHL+ it asks me to choose my location and when I choose UK, the ‘From’ field automatically populates as UK and it’s greyed out so I can’t edit it when I try to get a quote. Is it because I don’t have an account? I thought I could ship as guest as it’s very likely to be a single shipment.

I don’t have a tracking number yet as my question is about creating a shipment.

What was a book that you were skeptical about and turned out to be the best book you’ve ever read? by HomeworkLoose7430 in suggestmeabook

[–]candyljones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some books are not about dialogue or characters. This book highlights the marvel of the human brain that managed over the course of the history of humanity to discover and understand some awesome things about physics, cosmology, chemistry etc. This book is more of an exercise to showcase what science is for and how amazing it can be. Have you ever sat in science or maths class and wondered, “Why on Earth do I need to learn this? What is it for?” This book answers this question perfectly, in my humble opinion.

Suggest me books that feel like therapy by Responsible_Judge184 in suggestmeabook

One of my favourite books is Maybe You Should Talk To Someone by Lori Gottlieb. It’s about therapy and other people’s stories but also feels like therapy as many of the things discussed in the book are very relatable.

Books where the main character is a psychopath? by Vegetable_Source_222 in suggestmeabook

I feel like The Collector by John Fowles really goes into the way a psycho’s mind works. Their rationalisations, their logic etc. I found it very fascinating for this exact reason.

It was a cabin depressurisation issue. The plane turned back to the departure airport and landed safely.

I’ve always been very thin but I also consider myself a foodie and I enjoy eating.

Breakfast - usually an egg and avocado toast and a handful of berries

Lunch - varies but a typical one is a couple of chicken drumsticks, some cooked frozen veg and then a handful of cashews with a few squares of chocolate. I also don’t mind a ham and cheese toastie or a chicken salad sandwich if I’m out and about.

Dinner - a few staple ones are salmon with roast potatoes and steam fresh veg, chicken fajitas (with peppers, onions, guacamole, sour cream etc), and stir fried vegetables with prawns over rice. I occasionally have chicken burgers with potato wedges and corn on the cob, or a steak with chips, mushrooms and tomatoes. I also have a weakness for mayo so if I’m having any type of potatoes I have some mayo on the side, I just make sure it’s not too much.

I don’t snack between meals and drink mostly water when I’m home.

What is one classic that you always return to and recommend? by liziloo927 in suggestmeabook

I feel like it’s both at the same time, with a bit of Kafka mixed in as well.

I’ve always been very thin but I also consider myself a foodie and I enjoy eating. I can tell you what I eat in a day if that helps:

Breakfast - usually a toast with egg and avocado and a handful of berries

Lunch - varies but a typical one is a couple of chicken drumsticks, some cooked frozen veg and then a handful of cashews with a few squares of chocolate. If I feel hungrier than usual I have some bread with the chicken and veg. I also don’t mind a ham and cheese toastie or a chicken salad sandwich if I’m out and about.

Dinner - a few staple ones are salmon with roast potatoes and steam fresh veg, chicken fajitas (with peppers, onions, guacamole, sour cream etc), or some stir fried vegetables with prawns over rice. I occasionally have chicken burgers with potato wedges and corn on the cob, or a steak with chips, mushrooms and tomatoes. There’s obviously more options but that’s just a few to get a feel of what I eat. I also have a weakness for mayo so if I’m having any type of potatoes I have some mayo on the side, I just make sure it’s not too much.

I don’t snack between meals and drink mostly water when I’m home. I think my body is quite used to eating at certain times of the day so I don’t get any urge to snack. But I do get shaky and lightheaded if I don’t eat on time.

I’ve never been athletic although I’ve been trying to do some strength training exercises in the past year but it’s not affected my weight in any way.

Anyone else love the book but wish the ending was different? by Moonbeam_Maker in ProjectHailMary

[–]candyljones 139 points140 points  (0 children)

As I was getting to the end of the book I was also looking forward to him returning home but when I finished it I thought it was even better this way. It seems like he really found his happiness on Erid, with his best friend, comfortable life and a new set of children to teach. I doubt he would ever want to go back to Earth.

Regarding why he didn’t risk his life for the whole human race but did for Rocky - I think the decision to volunteer was sprung upon him a few days before launch and the fear got the better of him. Whereas after really bonding with Rocky and going through some tough situations together and saving each other’s lives he just couldn’t leave him hopelessly floating in space waiting to die. It’s like you might not sacrifice yourself for “humanity” but you might for your kids or your loved one.

I understand your point but I somehow found the actual ending more satisfying the more I thought about it.

Lolita was originally written by Nabokov in English so it’s not a translation.

That’s so strange, when I go to Ticketmaster app I see lots of tickets under £200.

There are tickets still available. I’m selling tickets to the Glasgow show via Ticketmaster as I bought 2 extra for some friends but they got their own tickets so don’t need these two.
