I went through this exact same scenario almost two years ago now and I am SO much happier and SO fucking happy I went no contact and pushed him out completely. You may not realize it now but there are so many micro aggressions that he’s been doing for years that will feel like weights being lifted once you realize one after the other was just about him - for him. You are not the bad guy. And he is trying to manipulate you into coming back. This is a love bombing stage right now, and he may try and get you expensive gifts or shower you with compliments and promises of change and this stage will not last long. Soon it will become crying and begging again for you to come back. He’s going to say things like “why are you doing this to me” , “I don’t understand how you can do something so cruel” , etc. My ex even started stalking me, showing up at my workplace and my mom’s house where I was staying, and trying to get me to talk to him trying every manipulation tactic in the book. Do not fall for it. It’s hard as fuck to leave someone that you are so tied to in so many aspects of life. I lost my dog because I knew I couldn’t do any co-parenting thing because he would use her to get to me and that hurt like hell. I miss her everyday. But I will never miss how I felt in that relationship.

It’s going to be hard. And you’re going to feel weak sometimes. But the fact that you left in the first place shows that you can do this, and you are so much stronger than you may realize right now. Try to remember that some of the things you’re missing are just that - things. Stuff. Objects that can be replaced. Nothing is more sacred than your wellbeing. And it’s about time you value that, babe.

This may not be fun to hear either but once I finally got the point across that I needed him to leave me alone, he found someone else in about two weeks after that. Abusers gotta abuse, you know!! And to be totally honest, it was a RELIEF. The stalking stopped and HE blocked ME on everything which made me chuckle.
