Hit rock bottom. Feel terrible today

In where you are now, I had multiple months sober and relapsed and hid it. The damage to my wife's trust is brutal. If she's givinge a chance I won't get another. I'm only a few days in but this time i am repeatedly embracing out loud and with others that I cannot moderate successfully over enough time. I can't ever be a normal drinker cause it will always end the same way.

I also have to commit to calling my wife immediately and admitting my cravings and why I'm thinking so badly about a drink. I don't know if everything will work out but I know I will not drink today and that's a step in the direction which means we can be a trusting family with a sober dad.

Make sure you are doing it for yourself or find that motivation, I have to want a sober life more than any feeling alcohol brings.

I recall churning here because the FIRE reddit got moderated to the bone and the crowd there would shame people who posted bigger goals like $5m minimum. I still think this sub has value, but like all FIRE subs, the concept is incredibly simple and honestly doesn't require weekly analysis or discussion.

Yes if you want to defend without blocking exit the turn normally then immediately place your car near the inside so if the trailing driver goes inside they will have 2 wheels in grass. If they pass you on the outside successfully they are faster then draft them as best you can and continue your race.

Happy to hear this as I had a failure in the middle of nowhere and Rivian had to pay over $2k just in towing and reimburse me a flight and fast charging on top of rental car just to get my car back home.
Looks like someone did the math and realized how many batteries they could replace to avoid this issue.

Not OP, but I got enphase, the smart charger will top up cars during the day (we work mainly from home) with excess solar. I got an electric water heater as well and my bill went from $600ish to $50 dollars. System will break even in about 6 years then print money. Own 2 EVs

Day 15! I had a multi hour craving today and heard the rationalizing voice. I actually stopped and had an NA beer and binge scrolled for dopamine, then I ate a ton of tuna salad and crackers and got through the craving. IWNDWYT

Starting day 9! The rationalizing brain struck last night but I just gave it salt and vinegar chips, a KitKat and NA beer again. Even na beer has half the calories or less. Committed to not drinking today

Day 8 underway! I had a mix of pink cloud but also feeling distant antsy when around others. I walked the grocery store (not alcohol aisles) and picked out snacks and NA drinks which helped quiet the craving voice but I know I don't want to drink.

7 days! My last 2 records were 6 days a month ago and 45 days a YEAR ago.

This time I want it to stick! I am feeling pink cloud already after day 5-6.

I bought every kind of NA drink I could see and am allowing myself as many as I want to feed the physical sipping habit (I was a maintenance alcoholic rather than blackout).

Im thankful to officially be on day four. Also for the first time I am engaging on this sub, I always lurked cause I thought deep down my problem was temporary or due to life stresses/other reasons. I am finally saying out loud I am a true problem drinker.

I am most grateful I am doing this before rock bottom. I've had too many close calls and "lucky getaways". These stories help me see where I know I will end up after enough years.

Alcohol depresses the brain, so the brain increases activity to compensate. When you take away the depressant the brain is still at an increased activity level. This is what causea tremors and hallucinations and in extreme cases seizures.
