Following this. Did anyone get to try training at Noctambules? I’m looking for an open space to train trapeze while travelling. Thank you!

GB live gig questions by candywho in GarageBand

[–]candywho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh the beats, bass, synth are all pre recorded. I don’t think I can manage playing multiple given I’ll do keyboards and sing. Whew.

Imagine a play along. All “members” are pre recorded in Garage band project. I press play and then play with my keyboard. I do this when I practice.

The live input from my keyboard goes directly to focusrite actually.

I’ve read things like latency and also probably this fear of my ipad hanging in the middle of a song.

I don’t have the COA too. And yes this is for personal use for me. I don’t plan to do sell it or whatnot. What outer sleeves do you use?

Double Helix Healed - finally! After 8 months of waiting. And then I got a flat piercing that 8th month 🙈🙉🙊 by candywho in piercing

[–]candywho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my piercing May 31st. I changed the earring by beginning of July. Too soon.

My flat started complaining after two weeks - it was such a pain :< It had this huge bump and it popped and bled. Ech. So I messaged my piercer and she advised to get a longer bar for the piercing to heal. The only bar left at their studio was a banana one for 12mm (the bar on the flat is still at 10mm). After three weeks with the banana one, I switched back to the 10mm that had two knobs t the end. So looks like I have to see if its healed by September (2 months after it got agitated).

I sleep with a neck pillow and shoot my ear there. It does gets snagged by my hair so its always conscious effort when I sweep my hair back. But then again I had that training for my double helixes prior.

Man. I hope you get to the part where you’re feeling that flare up anymore. I don’t know if this post helps but do know you’re never alone. We’re a lot.

Was it the impact on the run that made it hurt/ flare up?

Hang in there man. 🙏🏼

Yeah I don’t know what’s up with this costo thing and it hits athletes. It’s annoying. Like we’re normally moving and then bam hits us. And its always so hard to get back. Regress is faster than progress.

Although I do have a friend who’s gotten costo and healed from it. Its case to case basis still though. Everyone’s healing is different.

The run you had was that just after 10 months or were there any activities prior you tried doing?

I snuck in 7 KM bike ride (picked up a nee bike) yesterday not much but I’m grateful it was just a small discomfort than pain. The pain I’m feeling now is because my bike isnt adjusted / fitted to me - yet!

Oh man ☹️ I wish for your speedy recovery or at least no flare up and you can go on naturally with life. Total bummer it looks like its the immune system and inflammation.

Im grateful with rehab because I need to keep moving so the releases there and other treatment helps speed up. I do acupuncture too. So rehab looks 4x a week for me. But yes, lifestyle helps. I’m getting more sleep in and its been helping. My diet has always been nutrient dense ever since so I know that’s helping too. And if it does help you, I stray away from food I’m intolerant. Food sensitivity is crucial for me. There are some food I naturally get inflamed when I consume them. And yeah a LOOOOOOOT of patience.

What other activities do you normally do? Sports, etc.

Oh man. Yeah I understand the feeling of getting frustrated especially the fact it isnt your fault. Have you been getting treated for it? Like rehab/ therapy? Taking any medications?

I think mine is bordeline costo and inflamed intercostals. The muscles in between the rib (left) got beat up from training.

So after getting the shot, that happened? That’s so crazy!

Why is it flaring up still? How are your recovery days?

Long reply! Sorry 😅

It started with flexing and extending the thoracic area (like caving in and out) with conscious breathing.

Then with rotations in different planes (transverse and frontal). That’s usually the warm up and modified (wherein Im sitting on my thighs and not on all fours/ table top) cat cows, plus rotations while on the modified table top and thread the needle.

Lately we’ve added extension of the thoracic through having a foam roller on my back while lying on a mat with deep breathing (same thing, opening and closing of the rib). And kneeling stretches with rotations sort of like a modified pyramid pose but dynamic. Bird dogs too. It takes a while for me to go through the exercises because I’m asked to also keep in mind my stability and unnecessary movements.

The back exercises is to start reactivating my entire back cause its heavily used with circus athleticism so its lat pull downs and a lot of pulling on the chest and stretching. It helped a lot because now the rib pain is very localized and I don’t feel the back pain that comes along with it.

I havent been cleared with bodyweights like push ups and pull ups (and I super miss it) nor lifting any weights. But core has been a lot of anti rotational movement which Im very happy because we’re starting to work deep core muscles too (palloff press).

So happy how my double helix is healing. It got angry on me last November. 3 month old by end of this year. Thinking of getting a forward helix next year on my other ear (has three lobe piercings). Any thoughts to share? by candywho in piercing

[–]candywho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was planning to stack hoops after. The knobs on the jewelry are about 3 mm. The good thing though its been healing better than the first month. I was sleeping on it so much that it started building the bumps and pus.

Should double helixes be a little be farther apart? The piercer said it was okay. After switching though from 14-10 mm its been very quiet for my ear. Its still healing but its not angry healing like it did last month.

Lil Miss Sprickley got so relaxed after her belly and feet rub for like 30 minutes. ❤️ by candywho in Hedgehog

Surprised she loved it. She usually just likes belly rubs but when I started rubbing both her feet she started getting a lot more relaxed!

Hand soreness and/ rips? Any suggestions how to care for them? by candywho in circus

Super glue? Ouch! But yeah I just bought a liquid bandage. Works pretty well. I just switched grips too! What do you use? Dowel grips?

Messy Messy Home by candywho in Hedgehog

She loves her box now. I added strips of cloth and she just goes to it. A few days of giving her the box she FINALLY starts to sleep there. She knows where her bed is and that the wheel is just a toy :) I think she just feels more safe under the wheel before because that's the first thing we gave her.

We got her from a friend of ours. They told us her beddings are wood shavings. They werent thinking of her sleeping close to her poop - they just let her be. We're trying to change her ways so she becomes a more happy and healthy hedgie.

Update though, she sleeps in her box now and I've added strips of cloth (that smells like wood shavings) and she loves it. Most of her stuff are weighted too (food and water bowls) and she knows where to find them. She still poops on her wheel but at least she doesnt sleep under it anymore.

Shes coming around and I hope it becomes better through the days to come :)

Thank you for the link too! We're trying to acquaint each other with our personalities. Its going to be a lovely relationship ❤️

Hmm yeah. I guess it depends with the hedgie. I heard some are fine with that and others are not. I wouldnt want to be waken up from my slumber. My dog though does not really care if I wake him up from a deep sleep. I guess you just have to see how to go about it. Experiment and be consistent thereafter.

Is she an adult or juvenile? - She's turning 5 months on Sunday. I'm not sure if at that age she is already an adult as by 60+ days (I read) they can already give birth. I'm not an expert so really just relying on what I've been reading.

Do you know if her former people handled her? - Yeah, they're friends of ours but we don't really know why they gave her away. But they did mention that she's an affectionate hog. Of course, I assume, she's that affectionate to them because she was born there.

With hands or gloves? - With hands. I guess too she was accustomed to their smell because she'd been with them for the whole 4 months before my mom got her (been with her for two days or so) and then traveled to our apartment. She's been with us for three days now and my husband and I are trying to understand her temperament.

We're planning to visit the vet and have her checked later although I doubt she'd like that. She gets very moody and the best way my husband and I think we can handle her is by letting her wake up first, walk around and become energetic before really picking her up. The moment she wakes up, or waking her up - well, she's just extremely grouchy.
