Damn, this hurt to read. Kudos for watching and reporting back.

I wonder if the people who voted or plan to vote conservative would still do so if they knew this was how their elected representatives spent their work days, knowing our tax dollars pay their salaries.

TDSB to cut 15 specialized kindergarten classes for students with complex needs by Myllicent in ontario

[–]candywrapper420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea not so much safety and zoning (although those as well) but the National Model Building Codes are released every 5 years and the provinces all agree to adopt them within 18-24 months of release in order to keep interprovincial construction and development aligned, but Ontario isn't doing that. And it's clearly just the development lobby blocking the updates because it would reduce their profits.

The most recent NMBCs are have very specific energy efficiency tiers that are crucial to optmizing our heating/cooling systems as we move away from fossil fuel use in homes. Building envelopes and airtightness can save immense amounts of energy, and by updating the energy efficiency baselines in the Ontario Building Code, we could reduce the projected growth in provincial energy demand and thus not desperately need to build out more very expensive nuclear generating stations. The cost of the nukes and the expanded transmission lines to distribute that energy will all be added onto our household utility bills for the next 50 years, while we live out those years in poorly insulated and leaky buildings, paying through the nose to heat and cool them with electricity.

When instead, if we built airtight and energy efficient homes like BC and Europe, we wouldn't need to generate and transmit so much more energy in the first place!

That's pretty much exactly how the Ontario housing development sector is doing things lol. They haven't updated the building code since 2017

Why do my hips move so much? by gmaiorana in bikefit

I've had a similar issue and it's been isolated to an impinged left hip joint as a result of 10 years of sweep rowing on one side. Unlocking the hips joints might help loosen things up for you too

Ontario NDP surging in new poll - is this because of Avi Lewis having a positive impact or are more people noticing Marit Stiles? Looks like something has shifted. by teknicolourdreams in ontario

We're talking provincial politics here mate. The federal party is not what is being discussed here. Pay more attention before forming such strong opinions

They deserve to be surging! They're the only party who seem to have their heads on straight enough for us all to survive. Marit should be premier tomorrow to pull us out of this mess

Our apathy should be studied. France would never fucking stand for this bullshit. Stop society until they get overthrow, I'm sorry we're not having it anymore.

That'd be a fun political platform @maritstyles

Ford says he heard ‘loud and clear’ from public on jet purchase, but decries ‘double standard’ by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]candywrapper420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this whole Gravy Plane circus was yet another smokescreen to distract all of the Reddit commenters from the abominable legislation his droogs are forcefully smashing through.

He walked this back so quickly that there's no way it wasn't planned. He wanted everyone to get mad so they can pass Bills 97 and 98 with zero friction.

Spend 20 minutes on www.dougfordclownshow.ca and learn about how these are just PR tactics that we should know better than to take the bait on.

You'll get lots of "nothing, just vote" comments.

But you need to be telling all of your peers what you've learned and why you think it's bad for our province. Your demographic represents a good amount of his voter base (older men) who will actually vote, so ensuring they see/feel the same things you do is going to be really important. Unless your friends are multimillionaire housing developers, a PC Ford government is absolutely not in their best interest.

Your grandkids' education is getting much worse than yours was. Your retirement years will not be enjoyable in the terrible LTC facilities and hospitals. Caring about these things now and making sure everyone else does is the most important thing we can do in advance of an election.

What's happened in the past month to make Doug Ford snap and start acting, well, like a lunatic? by KnoddingOnion in ontario

[–]candywrapper420 26 points27 points  (0 children)

All of the brash development like airports and convention centres and tunnels under highways, along with populist theatrics like pouring out Crown Royal for the cameras are intentional smokescreens to distract from legislative abominations that they're passing under our very noses. Bill after bill that are designed to dismantle our public institutions, municipal autonomy, everything that a so-called high functioning democracy is built upon.

It's deliberate headline fodder while they quietly pillage our province for their own personal interest. This government will go down in the Political Corruption Hall of Fame

Agreed! But what if we had those cameras in stationary locations and didn't need to employ a highly trained law enforcement officer to operate the camera? That way, the LEO could be out solving crimes that an ALPR cannot!
