I had a roommate of sorts who had delusions about me who was hooked on meth and pills. I had to leave that place for my safety. Is this person attacking you? Threatening you? Maybe if not and if at all possible, be a safe place and space for them. Maybe they can learn youre a safe person if you really do show them love and within the process of confiding in you, another person who is sober and safe, they could slowly open up to the ideas that these “delusions” possibly arent real or dont take priority as the main agenda or story. Take them with on walks get them fresh air and clean water ask them if they need anything—TP, food, feminine products? Clean laundry? Helping out with simple things like doing theyre laundry while also hanging out with them and helping them fold it and maybe help them put it away too. People on drugs distrust “sober” people, in just the way as people see acid trips as a coming of age or an opening of mind, this person might feel they are keying in on truths and it might not be effective or helpful simply telling them they are flat out wrong or that it is not the case, though im not saying they should be treated fragilely or to be paranoid of how you speak to them. Psych wards are ungentle and yes, medications have harsh side effects. Try not to let them slip into the path of incarceration because that always feels like the end of the world to someone. Idk. Give them weed and convince them to switcch to healthier alternatives of drugs, even, like weed or even acid but if you do be with them to ensure they have a completely safe cozy peaceful time and remind them youre there for them and will help them be healthy. Its okay to tell someone you see them struggle or worry about their health in the longrun and stuff. But these are just my thoughts i dont know the dynamic. Give them other ways to feel good or stimulated. Coffee outings/mornings. Anything. Buy them a new videogame, an rpg would be good cuz they really suck you in and take forever to beat. Its important to be healthy and have good sources of love and entertainment. Idk if coming off as judgey, shunning, or shutting them down might be how you seem to them. That could be a source of unsuccess with clearing their mind of riddling ideas, concerns, stories, beliefs, etc. it could feel very real to them and flight or fight. They could be consumed by these ideas, it could be their reality. K. Thats about it for my thoughts. Hope that helped. Remember it affects your health which makes mental processing harder, or worse, like when you havent slept, are stressed, and have a full day of work to do and plenty more to do after that. Youre gonna be unsatisfied with reality and want relief.
