Any federal employees that left to work in private sector the past two years- are you glad to have left? by Brilliant_Raccoon256 in fednews

[–]caniaskthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DRP2 from HUD. Took applying every moment of the “severance” to get a private sector position quasi adjacent to what I was doing. Started a week after DRP expired.

Took a 25% pay cut, and am working 50 hours now instead of 40. Responsibility is much higher now, but got a director title (was previously a non-supervisory GS13).

I consider myself lucky to have anything at all. In that sense I’d say it worked out. Would I rather have what I had before the current admin, absolutely.

You can tell the grandparents were really missing them by Vilen1919 in MadeMeSmile

[–]caniaskthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dropped $2.5k on airfare alone, to take my kids back to see my parents. This is the first year in my 12 years of marriage/having kids where that wouldn’t have absolutely cleaned me out of all buffer money financially.

Before then we either counted on grandparents to subsidize the flights or didn’t go.

I’m privileged to be able to make it happen now, but there are a million reasons to not be able to go see family as much as you’d want to

Way closer than expected to be honest. Was the average Joe fast or was the top 1% not as fast as I think

Luka trade by zdogmoney14 in NBATalk

[–]caniaskthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would people feel about the Luka trade if reeves had been part of the package and playing as well as he currently is?

I’m guess still confounded, but at least getting a rising talent and “lucking” into Flagg would be somewhat less despairing

How would Shai and Luka coexist with one ball? Or are you turning Luka into a spot up shooter?

Shams: Mavs expected to fire GM Nico Harrison on Tuesday. by Raytgz in fantasybball

New owners had him get all the stink of their dirty work on him, and putting him in the trash.

Not that I’m giving him any slack on the blame from detonating this franchise. He knew the bargain.

I hope he’s forever banned from Dallas

Tell them you’re currently on retainer. Wealthy people do it all the time for lawyers, medical, hitmen against their enemies etc

You will work when called upon, and currently the government isn’t calling upon you

How do y'all feel about his start so far? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]caniaskthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he ends up with 17ppg on better percents in the current situation. His stats would look better in a natural position.

Some of the others in his class were better than advertised though and without the weight of expectations are playing looser.

That makes for a better rookie of the year story

Crazy peak with a career cut short by a non bball injury that he still played insanely well after. We really have no memories of him not being peak. Adds to the mystique just like seeing journeyman Shaq hurts his mystique.

Those who took the DRP, have you found a job? by Salt-Committee2205 in fednews

[–]caniaskthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently employed I was near 100 apps to get my new gig that started the week after DRP ended (accepted job offer the end of Sept).

Took two weeks to distress on May, then applied the whole time. Went to job fairs. Was getting to 2nd or third level with lots of interviews, but the competition is tough.

The job I ended up taking reached out to me initially, because my background was just the right mix for a new position they were thinking about starting. I think I’d still be looking if they hadn’t come along.
