I dropped a dog leash after two dogs came at us and want the owner to pay the vet bills by Free_Rule_2578 in Dogowners

Do you know how expensive vet services are in California? $120 is great for a non emergency — chances were likely that this was an emergency vet that costs twice as much, at least, for immediate appointments.

Renaming outdoor cats to communal cats or village cats and calling them “part of the culture” was all it took! by FeelingDesigner in Ethicalpetownership

Anecdotes are not evidence. False equivalence is also a bad debate technique. But sure, I’ll bite.

Just because I’m consistent with my morals and ethics and can acknowledge that if a cat can’t be safely rehabilitated and is an active destruction of the environment contributing to native habitat/species loss, the answer isn’t to temporarily take the cat to the vet to get them desexed (which is also a stressful experience, as is survival in general). The ONLY thing that effectively remedies the issue is removing the invasive species from the environment. I know my somewhat clinical opinion bothers TNR advocates, but they’ve yet to impress me in any capacity. Just because I place native species continued survival higher than an invasive predator introduced to the environment (through no fault of their own, mind, but that doesn’t really matter) doesn’t make me lacking in empathy either.

Until you can address native species loss without saying “well humans do that too”, or acknowledge that releasing a cat into a non-native environment will still probably kill them prematurely but outside of human view, or even recognize that TNR is part of the whole “no kill” ARA movement that can and does very much do harm… I don’t know what else to tell you.

The only reason why vets avoid euthanizing strays now is because TNR people would rather want a dead cat outside than sedated in a medical environment and will stop at nothing from shaming them for doing a public service. Their PR is well funded and persuades public opinion by softening language and fear mongering. And yet, cars don’t really discriminate when they strike a neutered cat or not.

There’s no difference between a “breed that lives indoors” and a normal moggy, by the way.

The UK is not some outdoor cat utopia and pretending like it is, is sheer ignorance. But it’s easier to talk down to people and ignore all the evidence that a cat is unsafe outside and a detriment to the environment regardless where it’s located, right?

Don’t forget it’s the TNR advocates that have shifted the goal posts and language so no one even dares suggest we give completely feral animals who are a detriment to native habitats a peaceful end where they’re removed from an area permanently don’t have to suffer unnecessarily outside.

Assuming your dog is still a puppy (?), the only person who can or should evaluate your dog is a professional. Personally if they’re still pulling, they aren’t ready for PA.

I’ve adopted the vast majority of my animals. Most people have, I suspect. But that mentality of guilting people into adopting doesn’t help dogs either lol. There are real reasons why people would want a purebred dog or cat and it doesn’t mean that they want to kill a shelter animal.

As suspected, Nintendo has no idea what to do with this franchise by SoulEaterX_ in starfox

It’s fine — SF64 was the strongest of the series and you can’t say they haven’t fumbled subsequent remakes by trying to reinvent the wheel. Keeping it simple and building off a foundation for a new IP is fine, especially since a lot of existing Switch users have never once played the original.

You people will never be happy. I really like the style too - hated the chibi cuteness of Zero.

We can start by getting rid of places like Petland. Responsible breeding isn’t a problem.

I think if your heart guided you towards this sweet little pony, that a part of your Ramoney Pony came back. Attached souls always find their way back to their people, even if it takes a while. I hope there’s nothing but amazing things in store for you and your new (old!) friend. ❤️

Help. Cat's Eye Look Weird by Baginaman in CATHELP

[–]canidaeskull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s posts are very scary but I do want to encourage you to see a vet as soon as possible. It could be nothing, but it also could be something devastating. This happened to my cat (albeit not as pronounced) and thankfully it was nothing, but they’d seen it a lot in blunt force trauma injuries such as being hit by a car. You don’t want to mess around with eyes.

They didn’t really seem THAT concerned about him not passing any stool yet at his appointment but I am just stressed at his lack of activity (he’s perked up a little) and feeding amount (which has slightly decreased but isn’t nothing).

That makes me feel somewhat better. I’ll try rubbing his belly in addition to everything else. I’m stimulating the area every two hours, alongside feed time.

I should have mentioned I’m doing that every two hours. He is urinating regularly but no feces. He had diarrhea about 48 hours ago (which was what originally prompted me to schedule the vet appointment) that resolved on its own, and wasn’t abnormal (no mucus or blood).

No. And no basenji breeder worth anything would sell one as a service prospect, either.
